Any one know how long it takes for your balance to update, when you load your Presto card with a credit card online?

I just added some, but got a message saying it will be updated within 24 hours. Need to use it tomorrow morning

24 hours. Their system sucks.

Nota bene, if you have an overdraft on the card you MUST go to a station counter to have it manually cleared even if the overdraft is a single penny and you have $1000.00 waiting to come through online. Their system is that retarded that it can't clear it on its own and credit you $999.99 instead.
 
any penalties for overdraft? does it give you the green light even if you dont have enough balance
 
Only if you had enough to start the trip with a bit of overdraft. It won't work otherwise as the overdraft is $5.

When it is cleared, the penalty is 25 cents for being in overdraft which is friendlier than the $5 the banks charge.

This is revenue generation as it wasn't possible to overdraft the paper tickets.
 
Every aspect of the Presto card is ... defective.

A few days ago I tried to log in to www.prestocard.ca so I could get my total expenses for 2013 (to use for tax purposes) and I could not log on anymore. Because they changed the "website" you have to re-register again... even when all your personal information / card information is still there!

Somebody told me that some very smart people have been hired to overhaul the system(s), but the problem is the initial architecture... a bunch of incompetent people was in charge, now they have to re-do everything... at twice the cost...
 
It's a good idea (to pre-load Presto card so the system doesn't get overloaded with thousands of credit card transactions when each ride is paid), but very flawed implementation ... I spoke to a fella who is part of the development team ... he was shaking his head at some things which were allowed to happen in the initial design phase.

Again, I guess they didn't pay for the best people ... LOL ... Or have they? Maybe they still think they had the best ....
 
just an update

i loaded my card at 10 pm - got a confirmation email 40 minutes later but the balance still had not updated

in the morning (7am) when i tapped it at the GO station - the balance was available
 
I think the latest report I read stated to take 24hrs into consideration before the balance will be updated, that's why they want people to set up the auto-recharge well before you run out of money ....
