Here it goes, when unit is on the bike, does engine heve to be running for map upload, because when just egnition is on I can only see serial# and device not communicating message. gsxr 1000 2005

In some cases, yes. Mine is the same way, I can't do anything with the maps unless the engine is actually running. Took me a frustrated couple hours to figure that out.

There is an adapter to allow this to be done with a 9 volt battery, so that the engine doesn't have to run, but it will kill said battery in very short order!
