Powder Coating Rims?

Anyone have experience with this?
How much does it cost?
Do they have to keep the bike a few days?
Was thinking about getting the rims on my kawi powder coated green! =D

they have nothing to do with your bike. you take in your wheels minus tires, rotors, wheel bearings, axles etc
they coat wheels, you reassemble and reinstall

costs a couple hundred bucks usually

Thats if you have the time or knowledge to do it yourself, or drive around to different shops to have them remove your tires and bearings etc, then back again to have them re-installed.
Some people just like to drop their bike or rims off at one place, and pick them up powder coated with everything installed back on the rims or bike.
And for that I 2nd yung636's suggestion.....

john do you re-use the bearings or always install new ones

I'd make sure that the turnaround time is reasonable otherwise you might be passing up primo riding weather because your wheels are sitting in a shop waiting in a queue to get coated. Just sayin.

If the customer wants new bearings they can pay extra for them, otherwise we re-install the old ones as long as they are still good...Its up to the customer if they want to spend the money or not...9 out of 10 don't...

I have re-used bearings in my wheels for years, never had a problem personally...

What kind of puller do you use to get the first bearing out? I have had a hard time with the first bearing because the sleeve obstructs the bearing puller from grabbing the inside edge of the inner race.

Get a collet type

Some rims like Kawi have very little room to push the inner bearing spacer tubes to the side

damn so there's my problem. sticking a long screwdriver through the other side and banging them out kept ruining them lol
