Possible bent frame

My bike (2007 gsxr600) definitely doesn't track straight. the string method shows it's off by about an inch.
does anyone know if there's anywhere somewhat local that can properly measure up a bike (laser/cmm type as oppose to wooden yardstick)?

The string method is very accurate if you are using the rear wheel. Thing is have you adjusted your rear wheel as this can be off just by poor chain slack adjustment. The notches on the swing are not accurate. See youtube videos on how to do this.

Front forks can be out alignment without implying a bent frame.
There are also Youtube videos on fork alignment.

If the frame is out an inch you would see it. Wheel alignment first then go from there. Any signs of a hit? GSXRs have frames made of glass if you bend one that far they break.

A die cast frame would likely break before bending a whole inch.

Slide a dowel thru swingarm pivot....adjust rear wheel to equal distance from the dowel on each side....then use the strings. More likely the forks and triples are twisted.

i know forks are straight. had them checked over by sharrard.
but as my bike bounced upside down through the shannonville infield i was thinking it may get bent... :(

Hmm... You failed to mention that in your original post ...
How are You doing? Maybe the bike is fine and you just need to see a chiropractor ;)

i am. now i think i'm bent too.

so no shops around here do that sort of thing?

This guy used to do it but I think he closed up shop. I have no idea what he's up to these days, but if you're lucky he's still got the equipment and does it out of his garage now or something.
