Hi team,
I was riding my bike last night and stopped for gas. When I tried starting it again it wouldnt start. My friend and I did a run start with it twice but the bike would turn off shortly. I barely got out of the gas station parking lot.
We tried leaving the choke on aswell (mine is a 2001 gsxr 600) but still had no luck.
Is this most likely the Alt. or battery? If its the Alt. how much is this to replace for a 2001?

Thanks.

isolate the alt from the reg/rec plug. check the out put from the stator( 3 yellow wires ) at idel you should get about 20 volts ac and 80volts ac at about 5000 rpm. check the rec/reg and the battery connections, make sure you have a solid ground to the engine and frame. take your battery to your local shop ( rosey toes ) to be load tested. alt. can be rebuilt.

GSXR's use BLACK Wires.

80V is too high, it should be no more than 60V, ideal is between 55V-60V per phase.

TO the OP, i've dealt with this issue on a few bikes, PM ME, i can help you out.
