Private logging road. Has anyone done it? @Mad Mike?

I did it in 2020 and there was a washout about halfway through that required crossing through water. I doubt it's been fixed yet. Most of the road is easy gravel but there are a few harder sections including a pretty steep climb/descent. If you're comfortable on dirt you should have no problem, otherwise I wouldn't do it, at least not alone.

Yes, I've done it a few times, planned to do it in April thiz year, but when I got to Capreol there was still too much ice on the road. it's pretty easy if you're comfortable on gravel and have an ADV bike. The first time I did it on Metzler Tourtecs, the last time on Shinko big block tires - much better.

The culvert washout was fixed in the spring of 22, but there may be short muddy sections in the southern part. After heavy rain there could be short sections with a few inches of water on the road. This time of year it should be mostly dry.

Not something I'd do as a first adv ride, or solo.

It's 140km, takes about 3 hours. I've done it in a little over 2 hrs when the whole road was dry. You will enough fuel for 250km to be safe.

I'll do it on.my next ride to Timmins.

An easier ride is Pine Rd from Matachewan to Timmins, that's a well groomed dirt highway.

Ha! I forgot about my own thread.

Me and three others had a go before I posted here. We didn't get very far.

Loose and coarse gravel, lots of washboard. Four sort-of-ADV bikes, two experienced riders on appropriate big blocks, two idiots on 80/20 tires (I'm the latter). Sunny and hot, the road itself dry and in good shape.

Slow going for all of us. We could do it, but it just wasn't any fun. We met a lone guy coming from the north on a KLR. Not too tough, he said, but he warned of a washout ahead. After a whopping twenty five kilometers, we chose to turn around. Some big ADV riders we are!

My brother offered his bike to me on the way back. An identical Guzzi V85 to mine, but with Shinko 804/805. Wow. What a difference, so much more confidence than my Shinko 705s.

Experienced and determined riders shouldn't have trouble here. Budget plenty of time, have sufficient fuel. I'd advise against going alone, as there are no services of any kind, and no cell service.

I last did it on Shinko 705s - easy. Too bad you didn't soldier on for a few more KM, the first 25KM out of Capreol are the roughest!

I'm heading north in a couple of weeks, I generally ride if the weather is good, I'll try Portelance again. I might take Dr. Big, if I can completer her once over by then, she's wearing Metzler Enduro 3s.

Right past my fishing spot (Burwash lake). In the 70's we did this road with our 4x4 trucks quite often. Fond memories --- when gas was sold by the gallon.
