Portable Monitors

Anyone use those portable monitors that can be moved around easily? Looking to add a second screen to my laptop, and maybe use for gaming (PS4/XBOX) once in a while when the time allows. Primarily for work though.

I don't know much about them, but have seen a few here and there and right now prices seem to be climbing along with everything else.

Thanks!

I have a USB monitor from AOC it's ok for what it is. Includes a folding stand. Wasn't very expensive.

We thought about one for my wife but ultimately decided on a real monitor. Portables were pretty small, less bright and the stands were the weak part on most. She often works sitting in bed and most wouldnt have been stable as they are often similar to flip and fold tablet cases.

Wife doesn't want a tv in the bedroom...I don't feel like sitting in the basement gaming on my own so thought this would be a good opportunity to catch up on gaming (instead of mindless Netflix).

Now as @GreyGhost a portable may not work as I'll need a stand and something to keep the monitor on lol.

Work is easy as it's basically just a second screen on a proper desk.

@油井緋色 or a few others will know better but I would hope we are getting the the point where VR goggles could provide a plausible option. Huge virtual screen, portable, no issues with stands etc.

PS does have a VR platform and gear but not cheap at all.

Well, I don't think it can be a solution for you, but my 13'' iPad Pro is perfect for this:
- Can act as an extra display for my Mac
- I can play PS games on it using PS Remote Play
- I can watch videos/movies/shows in the bed/on the couch/wherever I want

But it's pricey and and you can't use it as an extra screen with Windows (or maybe you can with some 3rd party apps, I don't know).

Maybe I should've bought the iPad instead of iPad mini...may have been able to use that as a monitor.

So far everybody has been saying ipad pro. That's in a whole different price ballpark. Work paid $2300 for mine a few years ago. Not sure if ipad supports duet or not.
Fresh enough regular iPads are supported by Apple built-in solution: Use an iPad as a second display for a Mac
Looks like Duet supports both Mac and Windows as a host and supports most iPads and even iPhone as a display: Duet Display

Can get a new iPad Air 11” (mostly indistinguishable from a Pro model) starting at $750.

I use my 11” Pro as a second screen to my Macbook all the time and love it. It’s also doubles as an iPad that does iPad things.
