Police Cruiser Rams Bike

Unbelievable.

Pretty clear. Guy deserves to be charged to full extent and lose his job with no chance of being in law enforcement again.
How fast was he going? That closure rate looked pretty fast assuming the bike was going the speed limit.

Didn't even touch the brakes. Amazing. At the very least he should be up for careless driving (although I think more is deserved in this case).

What do you expect when every porkchop I see has their face in their VDT or texting on their phone? (unlike their incar terminal, personal cellphones aren't monitored...which is why they use them so much).

Hell remember back in May when the Guelph cop was so busy texting she drove straight into the front of a city bus?
Naturally the details didn't come out until after the hero's funeral.

Link?

Earlier in the video you can see the cruiser drifting over the dashed lane marking. He was clearly not paying attention. I don't understand why he doesn't get charged! And did he even bother to lend assistance to the couple he hit? He checked out his car, put out a fire...asked the couple, "You alright?" Obviously not idiot! You just hit us with your car!

Betcha he was using the passeneger seat mounted laptop.....Clearly "distracted driving" causing injury.
Throw the book at him. If it were Joe Public he would already be in jail.

Quite possibly "distracted driving". Handle it as if so, either the distracted driving ticket or careless.

But why unreasonably sensationalize it? Do you work for the Toronto Star?

"Joe Public" wouldn't be in jail, he'd be looking at either one of the above mentioned charges.

Totally agree.
Despicable he was not charged.

Why'd y'all slam on yer brakes when I pulled in behind ya? I was gonna pull ya over for yer brake light not workin'. I got it on video, your brake light didn't come on. And then I put out the fires you arsonists started!

Says who?

Well now that's the third story about her death that has been presented.
And I was working 10mins away from where she died, the night she died. Roads didn't have any ice on them, especially not that one being fairly busy.

But that's neither here nor there...well until Ontario cops are mandated to have dashcams (that they can't access when it doesn't suit them)
If an OPP officer of the year drove over a couple on a bike while the officer had his face in his terminal, what story do you think they would spin?

Oooops.

A Surrey RCMP officer hit a teenager with his cruiser, stopped, and then drove over her body to park, two witnesses told a coroner’s inquest Tuesday.
Ashley Guiboche, 18, died Jan. 31, 2011, after being struck by Const. Albert Luk — an officer for less than two years — in the southbound lane of King George Boulevard near 98th Avenue.
Pedestrian Joel Selinger testified that moments after the crash the officer appeared to be still inside the vehicle speaking with somebody.
“The next thing I saw was the vehicle drove over the body,” Selinger said.

...
Sgt. Curtis Burks was the first person to have a conversation with Luk at the scene. He testified the dazed officer told him he had looked over at his mobile data terminal around the time of the crash and didn’t see anyone in the road.
