You can see the "skill" level of the riders at 3:05 in the first clip when he accidentally pops the clutch when trying to pull away.

The guys didn't use any of the little get away tricks, #1 of which would be to split up, that right there already increases your chances at least 50%.

Should have been able to escape, and the one that got away probably got tracked down by association.
 
Rookies indeed. If you can't get away from a big slow Crown Vic on a 100+ horsepower motorcycle you don't know what the hell you're doing.
 
What I don't get is the guy was way ahead of the cop... Why did he slow down?

Are you talking mid-chase? Or when he laid it down? Looks like a lot of gravel on the turn where he laid it down.
 
Cop looked like he was out for a Sunday afternoon drive. He didn't so much chase as follow. Nothing moronic about that. First rider blew right through the red light in front of the cop. That seems kind of imbecilic. Second rider sees first rider zooming along and decides that he wants to be chased too, which seems more idiotic than moronic. When you say laid it down do you mean fell off on purpose or just fell off?Did he get the first rider or the one who joined in, I could not tell?

Looks like rider one, the one who took off from the lights laid it down in the last rightt turn. You can see quite a bit of gravel on the road.

More the ridiculousness of the whole thing. Simple risk/reward. Count how many cars had to pull over for the cop. Any one of those cars could have recked. The cop also passes a few on the off-ramps! All those lives put at risk for a traffic violation. The cop should be suspended. Entertaining tho!

Why did he start running in the first place? and Why did the second rider join?
 
These guy's s**k... I wouldn't let either of these DB's run from the cop's on GTA IV; they would probably ruin my gamer score.
