I'm interested in police bikes on auction. I hear they are hard to find. At least in Canada. But how and where can we get information on these auctions ahead of time? Can you find good deals?

A little anecdote..I've been to a police auction before and in general, I didn't find good deals there. Give it a shot..my experience may not be representative..but don't go overboard bidding on junk in the heat of the moment. Good luck! :)

Yes, I've been warned by others too. I hear its a hit or miss kind of thing. I was mainly interested because of what I hear from States, apparently you can get nice deals down there if you know where to go and can make it in time.

As Hardwrkr13 pointed out, it might not be the best deal going. What helps is to see the history of bids on the site to get an idea of when and how to bid.

Use the Advanced Search feature. Select Timing "Sold" "1 year" and choose Category "Motorcycles" lower down on the page. Then hit the Search button and you'll get a page of all bike that have sold on the site within the past year. This will show you what is typical pricing, how many bids, the condition, etc. This is good information to plan when you'll act. I was using this site to search for BMW Authority bikes. They go for meer peanuts in the late winter.

Awhile ago, an early 2000's GSXR600 was sold on a Gov webside listed as a 2011 FACTORY RACING that had to be exported within 30 days (or something like that) of purchase and could NOT stay in Canada. It sold for about $4400. LOL

2005 R1 sold for $8005, improperly stored since 2006

i'm assuming "current high bid" is also the set starting bid

On those two, it is the price they sold for. I spoke to the rep that handled the GSXR's auction (current price was listed about $400 at the time), and he said these are basically you give your best number and hope you win. There is no way to see the current highest bid. On those two bikes I linked, the price beside Current High Bid is the price it sold for, they started much lower.

Yep, hard to find because the cops cant ever catch the crooks ;)

If you find any 2006-2011 R6's or 2007-2012 R1's that say "Won't start" or "No keys" they sell SUPER cheap (usually $2,800 fix for "no keys" or broken ignition!), and are usually VERY easy to get running. As long as the title isn't branded, you are good to go to get them fixed super cheap and easy and put them on the road (usually only $80 plus $6.50 for new keys). Send me a PM if you find one of those and I'll give ya the information you need to get it set up.

Better off just finding a used bike on kijiji. Those amazing deals you hear people talk about at auctions are few and far between. That canadian police auction site rarely has anything good on it.
