Platform Motorcyle Lift

Hi guys, since storing season is fast approaching (haven't stored my baby still riding on the days I can).

I'm looking into a platform lift which will greatly aid me in doing my oil changes and other maintenance/projects on my precious plus good for storage for winter as it will keep the tires off the cold concrete garage floor in the coming months.

I have the motomaster one that you put under the frame and lift the bike but it only raises it I think around 5-8" and anything higher you don't feel safe. Also it's still a pain in the back to work on the bike as you still need to go on you knees and it's sometimes hell finding the right angle to pick the bike up, you always feel uncertain that it's not supporting the bike in best ways.

So I've been looking at the platform ones that you drive the bike on and lock in the front wheel and raise the bike safely. The height of over 3' feet would be nice to work on the bike and I feel it won't be a mission to get it on and off as the one I already have, which sometimes impedes the thought of even using it.

So I did a search on this forum and on the net, the most reasonable one off this forum from an old post I found is one being sold at Princess Auto. The thread doesn't have direct link to the lift they're talking about but I found the only lift that Princess Auto sells. The lift costs $399 and can handle upto 1000 lbs which is sufficient, but lifts only to 29". Here's the link: http://www.princessauto.com/pal/product/8228215/Motorcycle/1,000-lb-Capacity-Motorcycle-Lift

Now another one I found is from Babco which is really amazing but out of my price range at $1500, it raises the bike to 43" which is a more comfortable working height. Here's the link:

So I want to hear from those whom have either one or can suggest a better one at a decent price. The Princess Auto one raises max 29", I would prefer something that raises at least 36" preferably especially like the Ranger which does 43"!

Ideally I would love to have the Babco Ranger model (so if anyone owns one and wants to offload it...let me know;)) but it's out of my price range, I don't mind spending up to $500.

Thanks!

Just checked it out the max height is 30" same as Princess Auto, and this coming from the states even at $299 with shipping (overweight item is shipped in a Freight Truck) and Duty would probably work out more than the PA one, which is local and I can pick up in my van.

Thanks though....

I bought a used lift a few years back and love it. Either way you will wonder why you waited so long.

If you are ever in the niagara area its worth checking out they have some great deals
I also got my chocks there too for 40 bucks each.....( the one's that hold the bike in place before you put tie downs on)

^^ That is the stand used by the racers in the TT3D Closer to the edge documentary

I have this style of one:

http://www.kendonusa.com/cruiserlift.html

it lifts to 32" and is hydraulic. also stores out of the way vertically against a wall. Do you want it ? I'll sell it to you for $350 since I used it about 1/2 dozen times when I first got it then haven't touched it in the past 2 or 3 yrs.

Keep an eye on the princess auto stuff. It seems to be getting worse in quality lately, not that it was ever high end. Lighter gauge steels, cheaper casters, nastier welds etc etc My 2 cents

Thanks Chiller but I don't want models that require tie downs.

ok no problems just thought I'd ask ... I didn't find the tie downs that big of a deal it has a bike chock on it that locks the bike in the tie downs are only to ensure it stays put but i did a bike without tieing it off

IF YOU will move on the price, i'll take it...

$300 lowest I can go on it ... I bought it for alot more then that... otherwise it makes a great paper weight in my garage and who knows it might get used once or twice in the 2 or 3 yrs

Look at the PA sled lift. a sheet of plywood, a cheap wheel chock and whamo you have a bike lift!

I have the lift for my sled and it's great. I wouldn't consider it cheaply built.
