Been a while since I went to go watch planes take off & land. Does anybody know what the cut off time is? & do you have any spot recommendations besides convair?

TIA :D

Go to the Wendy's on Airport Rd. near Zets.. You're good to about midnight..

Best spot is Maho Beach by Beacon Hill Rd ;)

Kind of related as I'm a plane buff....I was at Syracuse airport a while back and they had air national guard F16s there.

odd to see that jumbo jet seconds away from landing yet the rear landing gear is not fully extended???

I think it is..probably just the angle of the plane and photo. That's not photo-chopped..it's really like that at Maho Beach.. Not sure I'd ever pay to stay at that Maho Beach Hotel!! :-)

How cool would it be to that close to a 747 landing? Guess I need to get to St. Maarten

Been to St Martin and watched the planes.

Its freakin amazing.

That Jet Blast sign is real! The brave ones would try holding on to the fence when the planes engine lit up and hold on for dear life. Everybody else ran for cover!

Watching the jumbo's take off and land so close that you feel like you can touch them is very impressive.

Just found this pic in my album from St Maarten..

HA! Our plane to Punta Cana had to stop over at St.Martin. You think watching from the beach was crazy, try being in a plane that's about to land there. I swear I thought we were going into the sea!

I like this one.

My office window. lol

I used to be a real plane nut..I was at the Farnborough air show once when a Nimrod started up and blew a farm gate off it's posts and I went down to the Paris Air Show and was there the day before a Mig crashed doing aerobatics. Also, Cancun airport is fun as the end of the runway is in the sea isn't it? Or am I getting mixed up with another.

I know a few places....they are pretty cool....

WTF? Was he planning to mow the lawn????

trenton isn't bad for watching military planes, if you park at the credit union on the west side you can cross the street and watch the planes, don't park on the street the MPs will ticket you if the OPP doesn't first, there's a couple other spots to park and watch them take off and land depending on which way the wind blows. the antonov's come in and out all the time.

+1

I'm in that area all the time and there are often lots of aircraft nerds parked nearby with cameras pressed against the fences. The really spaz observers often come away with chain-link fence marks on their faces ;). Seriously though there is plenty of heat in that area and the speed limit is 50-60 depending on how close to Derry rd. and the Intl. centre you are so watch out....M'Kay?!

2710 Brittania Rd E, up at Infield Cargo, is a pretty great spot.

Another great airport but very few flights is RAR (Rarotonga) in the Cook Islands. The runway ends at the coastal highway. If you are on the highway when a plane comes in, prepared to be blown around. (Yes they have signs warning you).
