picked up my bike

Hey everyone, not sure if you might have seen my last thread about suggesting a route to get my bike home but here is the gist of it.

Did learning curves on the weekend, passed the exam at the end, and felt comfortable riding the bike. I would sure suggest everyone take the course I learned so much more than I would have imagined.

So I got my bike from snow city and took it to a parking lot beside it and practiced a bit to get used to the bike and clutch. Say about 20 minutes later I was ready to go, girlfriend followed me home and we went up Kennedy to 16th but we stopped at pacific mall for a break and any tips from my girlfriend.

She said I needed to accelerate faster from stops and get up to speed quicker. I was pike man it feels like I'm going fast already, lol, but I picked it up a bit and got the hang of it. So just a couple left turns and a couple rights on my route but I do need to work on faster corners. Thing for me to practice in the parking lot today.

Overall felt great and lots of fun. Ended up putting 100km on bike yesterday. 4 different rides with breaks in between. Getting a 250 for first bike though, after first day the thing felt more than powerful enough for me lol, ask me again in a few months though.

Almost got cut off by a black bmw. He started to come into my lane before I even got by him, gave him a little beep of the horn to get his attention. My girlfriend said that between Scarborough where I picked my bike up and Markham drivers didn't give as much space or respect as people further north, up to Newmarket where they give you more space.

Overall great day , but lots.to continue to practice

Congrats on the new ride. Good to hear you made it home fairly easy. A little bit of time and it will come naturally and you'll enjoy yourself out there

Welcome and congrats! Nice looking bike, red colour makes it faster, you know? :p

Just take it easy on corners, don't push yourself too much, it is very easy to lay your bike down if you haven't got good throttle control.

Enjoy your ride!

Congrats... One thing missing from that picture though, frame sliders! Get them on ASAP just in case.

I did a bit of research on them as my gf wanted them and I found that all of them were no-cut sliders. I took a good look at the 250r after and realized that there is no obvious place to mount cut sliders anyway. Read up on no-cut sliders to see the disadvantages.

I guess getting no-cut ones MIGHT save his fairings from too much damage from a standstill drop, but with anything at speed bad things might happen. And just remember, they're called FRAME sliders for a reason lol

Awesome, ride safe and have fun out there

Ya I was reading the ninja wiki and they say there is no real place to put them on the 250 and if you do find a spot they won't do much.

Happy for you man :) I remember the first day I got my bike, rode for 5 hours, I'm srs... Anyways make sure you stay safe bro.

Looking for my first bike as well and am $(*t my pants scared when I get it and ride it home as well...

Ride safe and enjoy your new bike ...red = more hp:D

stay away from no cut frame sliders...my friend low sided his 600rr at low speed, and the no cut frame sliders bent inwards and damaged his engine, which caused a leak...it was an expensive repair.

oh yea and watch out for where you put your helmet, if it was a windy day, that helmet would just blow off and you would need to buy a new one lol

Haha ya, I don't leave it on my bike, when I took my lessons they taught us that lol.

Why didn't you pick it up on a saturday morning when there's less traffic than on a weekday?

I work weekends, days off are usually Tues and Wednesdays
