Peel and stick tint? Fastest way to get a replacement helmet visor (Suomy Gun-Wind)

I'm going on a trip on Friday morning and I need a tinted visor for my girlfriends helmet. It's a Suomy Gun-Wind which uses the same visor as the Suomy Ventura and Suomy Explorer. There are websites that will deliver it but they take too long and I need it by Friday. I would easily pay more for the expedited shipping, but only if I knew i would have it delivered to me by Thursday night.

Any suggestions?

Otherwise, are there any local shops that sell a peel and stick tint for visors? I see that some auto parts stores may sell a tint for windows that attaches by static cling. Anyone know of a store in the GTA that sells it?

I can't help you with the visor but I don't see why regular car tint won't work. You can pick some up at Can Tire, Princess or Walmart. I
have most of a roll of 35% that your free to have. It just goes on with a soapy water solution so it should not damage the visor if you wish to remove it.

Maybe it dosent stick to the plastic? Not sure never tried it on a lexan visor but i have used it on plexi glass with no issues.
 
Thx for the offer Torren. Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Barrie for the next few weeks, so I'll hit up the local Princess Auto or Can Tire and see what they got.

There's a review for this product on Webbikeworld: http://www.webbikeworld.com/Reviewed-motorcycle-products/shade/ which is essentially a stick on tint just like what you have. I only need it to work for the weekend and I'll be getting a real tinted visor afterwards.

She wears sunglasses too, but she gets sunburn on her forehead, nose and cheeks (or whatever is exposed) if riding into the sun for a long time. Putting sunscreen on while in a helmet when riding in the heat for a long time isn't fun unless absolutely necessary. And we're going to be doing about 800km/day.
 
I had some left over window tint from my car and tried this on my clear visor. Result is bubbles all over, due to the flexing of the plastic as you handle it to get the bubbles out, only creating more bubbles in the process.

I was only able to get a fairly good result with a one inch strip along the top and is a fairly good compromise for days I forget my sunglasses and the sun is low.
 
Tint to the visor wont work since visors are flexable. As soon as you flex it the tint will deform in one way or another.
 
Be careful here. My OE Suomy visor had an anti-fog coating in it that didn't play nice when it got wet. While I typically advise against wearing glasses with a helmet, sunglasses might work out for her. Is that an option here?

What do you mean you advise against wearing glasses with a helmet? What do you recommend people with prescription glasses do if they don't wear contacts?
 
I recommend they try and get over what ever it is that's stopping them from wearing contacts. Most of the people I've talked to about it have a problem with the idea of putting something in their eyes. If its something as "simple" (<- relative term) as that, I'd say it may be worth making the effort to get over it.

If there's a medical condition that's stopping someone from wearing contacts or getting laser eye treatment, so be it, you may not have a choice... but the 3 inch scar over my left eye that almost left me blind says that wire frame glasses (and possibly others) under a helmet is a bad idea.
 
you could always try docs leathers on queen, they have alot of helmet products that might help you. if not just sunglassess under the helmet would work to and easier to find!

I think I'll go and see what's up at Can. Tire today and thanks for the Doc's leathers suggestion - called them and they suggested Canadian Tire too. I suppose the 1-2" strip across the top will make enough of a difference.
 
If I would have seen this earlier I could've helped you out, I have a brand new still in package green iridium visor for those suomy's that I've been trying to get rid of for like 4yrs lol

Cheap tint will not help with sunburns. You need UV blocking. While wearing my clear visor I never get a sunburn but I do get one wearing my "gold" tint shield.
