Parking Ticket, but why?

Hey guys,

I've been through numerous threads regarding parking your bikes, where to park, and how to park them. Just last night I was parked downtown here: http://goo.gl/al3Pn (29 Niagara St, Toronto) and came back to to a bike with a ticket on it. I was parked pretty much where the greyish van is parked in the image.

The ticket infraction reads "Park in permit parking location without a valid permit".

Are bikes not aloud to park on the street for free at these metered spots?

Lookin for some help from fellow riders.

Thanks.

Sign says No Parking 12am - - - Except by permit
So yes you're entitled to that ticket

Enjoy

No overnight parking for non-residents.

as stated above by the other guys, sorry dude..

Alrighty, no worries.

Thanks guys.

You still have to obied by the rules just like everyone else when it relates to street parking, the only thing we can get away with is that if the street parking requires payment then you are ok to park there with no ticket but you break any of the other rules, there is a good change you will get a ticket.

You can bring it to court (depending on the fee related to the ticket) or bring it to court and fight it and see if you can get off with the plea of not knowing because you are not from Toronto (based on your location says Woodbridge) or just pay it and chalk it up to experience.

not knowing is not a defense since there's a sign that says no parking between 12am and 7am

have to agree there ...

Even with cages, have you noticed that when parking is free there is far more diagonal, sloppy, take-up-two-spaces parking?
Honest Ed has a sign "Take two spaces, pay for two spaces" in their underground parking.
