Maybe a little toe... Bottom line is that as soon as religion is mentioned in a negative connotation, Islam always comes to the fore of the conversation. As if more extreme members of the Christian Taliban never held back treatment for their children (decided to do "prayer therapy") or the Scientologists forbidding ASA (Aspirin), or the Jehova's Witnesses prohibiting blood transfusions.
When Europe went into the dark ages where medical treatment was limited to prayers and bloodletting, Islamic states fostered active medical research and training programs which preserved a lot of the old European knowledge in addition to developing new treatments.
Every religion has its share of fundamentalist weirdos, but these days Islam's weirdos are seen as representatives of the entire religion.
