Paintball Marker Maintenance

I have Tippmann Custom 98 Pro Platinum Series gun that isn't the prettiest looking and needs some maintenance.

I'm sure a few of you might be paintball marker experts so I wanted a couple questions answered.

1. Do I need to use gun oil as a lubricant? Can I use any other sort of grease whether it be waxed based of silicone based? I have a bunch of different greases and would rather use what I have then buy something else.

2. If I choose not to do it myself, is there a reputable shop that can do it for me in the Mississauga area?

(providing you dont have the electric trigger mod, if you do remove trigger handle before doing this)
For that gun there just run it under some warm water to clean it up, towel dry then just use 3in1 oil.

This stuff is recommend.
Put a couple drops into the dove tail where the tank goes then fire off a few blank rounds.
Make sure the fire bolt is cleaned up and oiled as well.
After that just a couple drops of oil into dove tail every 500rounds and it will last forever.
Those guns are indestructible so no worries, and parts are plenty full and cheap.

Sweet! I actually have some pneumatic gun oil and this stuff is pretty similar so I've read, so I can just use that!

I don't have any electronics, all mechanical so that's great.. thanks!

some markers are very finicky in their maintenance. the Tippmann 98? not so much...

I have an a5 and a bt4 which are very similar to that gun. It's not that hard to do. Just make sure that you have the diagram or the manual which you can Google. I tech guns for people and I have a lot of experience with mechanical and electric. Send me a pm if you're interested.

That's all you need. I usually strip mine down, clean and re-oil after every use. Only takes a few minutes per marker once you get used to it.

And while you are in there grab a scotch brite pad and get rid of the overspray inside it.
