Paint job difficulty

Don't paint your bike.

Plastidip you can do it yourself, it's not very difficult. Google it.

You can do a decent rattle-can paint job on a bike for under $200.00 if you have the space, ventilation & lots of wet/dry sandpaper.

I once painted a bike in my dining room! That was a loooong time ago. No way my wife would allow that now.

Is the current paint job damaged or scratched?

If not, don't paint it. It's a 650R ride, enjoy, sell. It's your first bike not your only bike. If you wanted a particular colour, you really should have looked for it as there is no shortage of that model of bike.

Did you drop it already :D

How hard is it to do a paint job on a bike's fenders, specifically a ninja 650r 2009 (all the blue fairings/parts)

Im thinking the gas tank will be the hardest.

OR

Does anyone know any shops that do paint jobs, mainly just some matte black plastidip not a full out design. Rough estimate on cost aswell?

If you have to ask how hard it is to do a paint job, I will just about guarantee that any paint job that you attempt to do yourself, will be a poor quality job. Keep in mind that when the day comes when you want to sell that bike, non-original-equipment paint on any motorcycle will be interpreted by potential buyers as a crash repair and will reduce resale value.

Plastidip that is removable might not have this issue provided that you can actually remove it and DO remove it before you try to sell the bike ...

Talk to Carboncat (TJ at Reflections Auto Refinishing). He'll do it right the first time and clear coat it to perfection.

interesting, i'll be sure to hit him up

I just want to plastidip it for a matte black look, i'll rip the plastidip off after i can afford new gear lol

Did you drop it already :D

unfortunately :( not the reason i wanna plati dip it though

On Topic:
How difficult would it be to plastidip the bike? Any special tools needed? Sorry not familiar with bike ffairings/fenders

Ride the bike for a season or two, get all your drops out of the way, then worry about painting it.

would even reccomend not plastidipping? I was just asking because my gear is all black, my friends cars are all black and I really like the black matte + red highlight colorway

Blue is nice too but I don't really have the gear to match it yet, is it that heavy a task to plasti?

I've been saving up, going to start putting on some real mods on this thing :D

You want to match your bike to your friend's car? That's the dumbest idea I've ever heard. Wow!
Anyways, all black gear and a blue bike match quite well.

dont do anything until you drop it a few more times

Not a rattle can fan, dull finish and because no hardner its soft will scratch and be susceptible to contamination from any oil based liquid. If your spending a couple hundred for a rattle can job and have to do it yourself spend a couple more and get a proper base clear job.

its alright, black and red looks better IMO, i was just wondering the difficulty because cans of plastidip isn't too expensive

any place you plasti-dip the bike tha comes into contact with you while riding will start to peel/roll. I have first hand experience with this as I tested a few area's on my current motorcycle. IMHO save your cash

yep sprayed plasti dip on my naked R6. Tank wore away where my gloves rub on the corners, where my jacket rubs And ob the tail where the passengers legs rub. Not really worth it

Should've put some sliders on it. Your fairings would probably still be pretty. ;)
