PA - Iconic / Quirky - Places

Kinzua Bridge is about the ONLY thing you could see in a single day triop as it's close to the border with New York

There are a number of sites to enjoy down 219 (Bradford) and over on 446 (Eldred)
Therre are 2 images of the Kinzua Bridge I was there with the bridge intact on the way to Deal's Gap in 2003. On my return, i had heard of the storm that took it down, so I went to see it and sure enough, it'll never be rebuilt.

Eldred's war museum is worth the $5.00 and you may not stay as long as I did, but it was a complete surprise - route 446.

There are many of these - look 'em up on the net - start here:

If you happen to go further south on a 2 or 3 ride, then just off 219 taske 31 east to visit the Flt-93 crash site (9-11)

Pa has so much more that others have referenced, especially civil war sites etc.

If going all the way to Hershey, then Carlisle isn't too far West of there. They have, or at least used to have, big flea market's there on weekends, which were always car themed, Dodge, Ford. . . Perhaps there's a bike weekend??

If you're into post-apocalyptic, go visit Centralia PA.

+1 for Centralia. It's pretty creepy and amazian all at the same time. Then ride southwest for a half hr to a town called Ravine, and jump on Rt125 and head north on it.... for the best road I have yet to find in PA.

Centralia...when did you guys go there? There is NOTHING there anymore, they have taken everything out of there.

Yes there is the street that goes into Centralia, but that's it. :(

And the little hill top area where the mine was, etc. But not enough to make it a place to see...

There's still smoke seeming up from the coal vein fire, isn't there?

The Russian Orthodox Church is there, but masses are only one a week
The EMS post is also still there and active - in the community bldg
the smoke is still rising from a variety of places - but nothing like in the videos
All buildings have been removed except the mayor's hose - there he continues to hold on.

not anymore....

...but there is COAL everywhere around here...and I found this neat little sign....
