Hi guys, I'm new to riding(and this forum).

I just got my m2 and my first bike (GS500F:D) and have all my paperwork in line now and was wondering... Do I have to keep the ownership for the bike on my when I'm riding? What do you guys do for this? Usually in my cars I have my ownership/insurance in the glove box.

Also gotta love how I finally plate my bike the day it snows in april :(

So just like a car you have to have it with you when you're riding? O well, Guess it's not that big of a deal to just bring my wallet when I ride.

Keep a photocopy of ownership and insurance under your seat just in case you forget your wallet, for whatever reason.

i keep a certified true copy of my ownership, along with original insurance under my seat

i wouldn't keep original ownership

on the certified true copy, i wrote "not valid for transfer" on the back of the slip

I just keep my insurance slip and ownership inside my riding jacket so I have it on me all the time.

I put ownership and registration in a small zip-lock bag and then in my wallet, just in case it rains.

^This. Except I put the ziplock bag under my seat along with the manual. Photocopies in my wallet and at home.

I keep under the seat the photocopy of both sides of ownership (current one - when you renew registration and get a new sticker attached to it, you need a new photocopy) and an original of insurance card (since my policy always comes with 3-5 cards I am now worried about losing one or two). No police officer I met ever had an issue with this arrangement.

+1 place the valid plate sticker on the original and then make a copy of BOTH sides. If it's not both it's not a true copy and you get a ticket(I know that part for sure). I carry that and an original ins. slip inside my helmet.

I photocopied it, shredded it, added water and made a papier mâché mould of a protective cup which I wear when I challenge harley riders to a game of ro shom bo when I fill up at gas stations.

What do you mean by "true" copy? Seems a couple people added true for some reason....

Does that mean the vague sketch I quickly drew won't cut it?

And yes, I should have mentioned to make a new copy each year with te updated sticker.

I think they mean that both sides must be photocopied to make it valid even though the backside is really useless for identification purposes. I was also almost ticketed once for separating my ownership in 2... (They come with 2 papers that you can tear...)

Its obviously something you need to have. If your pulled over you need to prove that its your vehicle, and your word just isn't good enough.

I keep my ownership with my insurance in my jacket. I don't ride without my jacket so its always there, and never lost either in 15 years of riding.

How about a colour photocopy of both sides stuck together. When you get your plate sticker there are two stickers of the numbers - one you can put on your original ownership, and leave at home, and the other you put on your copy. One cop didnt realise it was even a copy until I pointed it out.
