Out of Province temporary permits

Thinking about buying a bike out of New Brunswick, so I want to fly out there and then ride the bike back. I have been searching for info on how to do this, but can't find much clear information especially regarding the details of insurance.

Has anyone done anything similar? Can you share your experience?

Will you have a bill of sale first? Call your insurance company and see if your current insurance can be transferred for a few days and take your plate with ya?

May be more helpful posted in the insurance forum.

I know my car insurance policy says it covers any other car for a 15 day period. I currently don't have any bikes that are insured @ the moment. I will have a bill of sale and ownership, but only when I get there. So I can get the vin number and buy insurance for it in Ontario, but I won't be able to plate it until I am there.

When I applied for insurance for my US import I gave the S/N and make. I didn't lie but didn't give any more info than asked for. If the bike was certified in NB I assume a temp plate would be available.

I just did this from Ontario to BC, but I was licensed in Ontario. I got a 10 days special permit from Ontario after getting insurance that allowed me to drive the vehicle to BC. Crossed the border with it and everything with no issues.

NB should have a similiar thing since the provinces apparently all honour each others. Call their licensing authority and ask.
