I really don't think i like this Ontario College Of Trades ... I can't see where there will be any benefit.
What is your opinion, say on having all Motorcycle Mechanics "trained" to work by the minimum standards policy that the gobermint has.. ? I feel there are skilled trade people that work their job as an art, a craft.... brilliantly! So when you ask them about an issue with your bike,,, they look at it from a smart sensible approach to a lot of perspectives.. where as some college trained monkees just learn how to replace parts, they don't live the life of motorcycle,, they just have a job,,fix bike, collect pay, mind on other things... oh well,, it meets minimum safety standard...
Other trades are the same.. Electricians fight each other to make the job meet code... the minimum allowable standard by law... when you find a good contractor, mechanic, that goes above and beyond.. they seem to be plagued by cut throat competition to do minimum standards allowed by code..
What does the consumer get?

Tory Leader Tim Hudak says Ontario doesn’t need a controversial College of Trades that will impose a tax on people working in the trades.
“The last thing we need when there are 600,000 people out of work of work today is some expensive new bureaucracy standing in the way of people who want to work in the skilled trades and good jobs,” Hudak told reporters at Queen’s Park on Wednesday.
The legislature was to debate a private member’s bill calling for the elimination of the fledgling College of Trades.
“It has the ability to levy taxes, $60 on the back of a carpenter, an electrician, a hair stylist and $120 new charge on the backs of businesses,” he said in joining the Stop the Trades Tax campaign. “The last thing we need is a new tax, a new bureaucracy.”
