I haven't been on here in a while so I'm kick starting my way back onto my bike (which is still in storage) and on here. It's been killing me to see all the bikes on the road, in the great weather that comes and goes.
Buy I've attached a pic of what's been demanding my attention through the winter, and definitely for a while yet. It's a 1966 Pontiac Tempest Custom Sprint. The Tempest is the more basic of Pontiac's mid-size line: the Lemans and the GTO share the same platform. But the Tempest makes a good platform for this particularly unique and rare combination of driveline and suspension. The Sprint is the hot version of a straight six engine with a 4 barrel carb and dual exhaust manifold. The specs include the first use of an overhead camshaft, a timing belt and hydraulic lash adjusters (lifters), for a Jaguar type engine that was a pet project of John DeLorean. It's also the very first application of the famed Rochester Quadrajet carburetor, which became the standard carb on every GM performance vehicle. They put it in the first-gen Firebird as well.
I'm working on this with my son. It's a lot of fun.
Cheers, everybody. I'm looking forward to another great riding season.
