As most of you should know, air miles is changing their format and rewards service. I have 1602 airmiles and figure I should cash them in. for 1600 points i see the Olympus[SUP]®[/SUP] TG-310 14.0MP Digital Camera

One tough camera. Thanks to Olympus' toughest ever technology, the new Olympus TOUGH 14MP digital camera is virtually indestructible. It's waterproof, shockproof, freeze-proof and scratch-resistant to an unprecedented degree. A sliding double lock mechanism for port and battery protection and additional lens barrier means your TOUGH will survive just about anything, from a food fight at a kids' birthday party to an unexpected fall. You can shoot 14 Megapixel still photos with the dramatic realism of 3D and, thanks to Eye-Fi card compatibility, automatically upload stills and movies wirelessly to your favourite website or a PC.

Is it any good? anything I'd really want (tablet for reading books) is more and not worth the cash upgrades.

I currently have a canon sd1400 and it's about 2 years old at this point. same megapixa and such but it's showing how it's been used and abused in the years i have had it (it survived being stepped on when i left it on the ground with my jacket and stuff..) and it's begining to show it's age. the waterproof and shock proof sounds good for the bike where most of the damage has been done.

anyone have any experience with this camera?

Daughter has one, has had some AF issues. But its a good holiday beach camera, drop it form a pocket, take it into the waves (10' max?) and its ok. 14mp is decent. You can't zoom if doing video and the battery charger configuration is odd.

Its not as tough or waterproof as the better models in the lineup. But it pretty good and certainly value priced. Given the pocket cameras that have been killed here (2 kodak, a yashica, couple hp's, and a fuji) the kids are using a panasonic lumix and this olympus and its holding up very well. Loads of cottage trips and beach time in Carib and its fine.

I have one, and my only complaint was that the battery crapped out on me in 5 months; $30 to replace. Otherwise it was well worth the money spent.
