Old Helmets

So I was moving and picked up my Kenny Roberts replica and the innards fell out of it...looked and smelled like the EPS and liner (now on the floor) was moldy. In a moving state of mind and repelled by the smell, I threw it in the garbage. Today I see this:

Lesson learned....don't throw your old helmets away!

Throw your old helmets away, unless you're Kenny Roberts, or the equivalent.

We had one guy show up to the gear check with a vintage helmet.
I turned it over and half the contents fell out.
Swept them back in, returned it and said:
"Sorry, you're going to need a more suitable helmet for the course".

Asking prices on ebay are almost as useless as asking prices on houses. Only price that matters is on completed sales.
True, but with collectables you can run into a bidding war...which I've seen often on eBay. There are some freaky people out there that love to collect junk.

I had a 20 year old snowmobile helmet that got worn maybe twice, otherwise sat in the box in its bag.
I pulled it out to cut the straps off and toss it, it still looked brand new.
I dont mind using stuff lile that on the SxS. If seatbelts are tight, not much you can hit your head on. Helmet rule on those is stupid imo.

Had one as well.. threw it out in the move. They're worth a bit of money:
