The term is older then your grandpa. In the olden days manufacturers promoted Observed Motorcycle Trials competitions that were designed to prove how good you built your motorcycles. It was a trial or a test of the motorcycles ability and rider skills.

... and you don't need a cow trail to ride a modern trials bike they go places where no man or cow has ever gone before.

It looked like a cut on his head before the hospital. It was a very serious skull fracture around his eye. Cool Harry Potter scar tho.
