Oil Straved engine, What will still be okay to salvage?

I starved my Hyosung Engine for oil by putting the oil filter in the wrong way :( I was just wondering what I could use/take from the engine that would not have been affected by this. Ie will the clutch basket be okay? my friend and I are going to be ripping the old engine apart next weekend and I would like to keep as many parts for backups as possible.

You're going to have to dis-assemble the motor and check EVERY part.
The crank may be scored, but you might be able to turn it down and use an over sized bearing... same with the big ends and the bore.

The clutch basket will probably be OK.

Tearing apart one Hyosung engine, to find spares to put into another ticking time bomb of a Hyosung engine, seems like a waste of energy

It's probably best to just leave the other engine together. Spare parts take up less space when they are assembled. You may never need the spare. (Or if you blow up your good engine, the parts you'll need are the ones that are no good on your spare engine.)

I doubt if the engine is worth what it would cost to rebuild, if there is ever a major problem with it. The off-brands (Hyosung, Kymco, etc) are pretty much throwaways.

This makes the most sense.

Take your current engine out in one piece and put it in a sturdy box of some sort, cover it and put under your workbench. Leave it like that until the day you might need a part. This is a good way to avoid losing parts/bolts and also if the time every comes that you need a specific piece from the old motor, taking it apart is always easiest and will help in the installation onto the newer motor.

How long did it run without oil pressure?
Does the engine still run? If it runs, what does it sound like?

The Broken engine does not run at all, it tries to crank but nothing more, I will do as you suggested and just keep it as a whole unit, butchered it as needed.
