Oil and Filter?

So I've been looking around, and can't seem to find a solid answer on what oil or filter to use for my (my first oil change Bike has 35xxx K) first oil change on my 04 YZF600r. Of course the owners manual says yama lube and with our weather 10w-30, but says nothing at all for the filter.

Can I use a different brand other then yamalube, and any ideas on which filter to get?

Oh and if any one would be willing to let me use tools and stands, I could throw you 10 bucks or something :s, as I sunk all my money in to getting this bike. I have no stands, no pan, ect ect. I can do the oil change myself, I only really need a rear stand I guess, I can mgyiver my way around every thing else (I have sockets and what not, I’ve been told tighten filter by hand as tight as you can should be good enough :S )

Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

You don't need stands to change oil, and as for tools if you have sockets and some screwdrivers and some allens your good to go, nothing special, as for oil filter just go to a parts fiche to find the part number or go into a dealer or call they can tell you, as for oil Yamalube is fine, anything that is motorcycle specific is fine. And for a drain pan just use old oil bottles and cut the top off

Sweet.... Thanks both of you.... Although I never did an oil change on the last bike (I never really had money to ride and the wife was prego and she already complained enough that I spent to much time out on rides before the babe came) and obviously the RZ never needed an oil change....I'll figure something out to use as a pan..... I thought I would need a rear stand..... Need one eventually for chain cleaning and lube...princess auto next pay I guess.

Either that or you can use the kickstand trick to lift the rear of the bike up with ur wife lubes your thing :p but yeah a rear stand does make it a lot easier.

Use the slightly larger filter sized for a Mazda....7317. I just did the oil change today on my TCat. If you want to come up to RH, I can assist.

Actual brand of filter and oil is your choice as is dino or synth. I run dino as I prefer to change it at the regular intervals to remove any contaminants instead of leaving synth in longer.
