What is good place to get your oil and filter changed in good price? I live in Mississauga.
Looking for full Synthetic Amsoil for Yamaha R6 2008. Hey, I love my bike.:D

In your driveway/garage is the cheapest, fastest and most reliable.

+1 shouldn't cost more than $20?? I mean $50

...and you might even learn something :)

Just don't cross thread the drain bolt or oil filter. Make sure you can get a good 4 or 5 turns b4 you have to fight it.

Put it as tight as you can with your fingers. Unless you have gorilla hands you wont cross thread it by hand.

I would LOVE to know where you get 4L synthetic oil and a filter for $20.

But yeah, doing it yourself is obviously the cheapest way to go about it.

oops, my bad. I bought a case so long ago and it worked out to $10 a litre. Brainfarted and quoted 1L and filter.

soooo less than $50

Went to MOTORCYCLE ENHANCEMENTS they did a good job. Amsoil Full Synthetic with filter and lubed the chain and tire pressure.

Breakdown

Synthetic Amsoil 10W40 X3 = 42.75
Filter = 13.95

Labor= .75 hour x $90 = $67.5

Total after HST = 140.35

Don't know if I got raped or thats the average going price only time will tell :)

Could've done it yourself for just the cost of parts and an hour of your time. And you would've learned something in the process.

Oh well.

Let me tell you...thats exactly where you got raped...go online look at a service manual. Next time get the oil, filter, and some beer...you should still manage to get done in under an hour in a semi-drunken state, I've done it in half that.

You got raped.

Furthermore, and at the risk of sounding like a d!ck (and I do apologize), why did you bother asking?

And then why did you bother posting your raping? Or was it to promote the joint? And then asking if you got raped?

Lastly, I've never heard of that place anyway.

Ride safe, please.

Yea, any one can do it in there driveway in a few mins.

*edit - o wow I'm Late ...

That's what she said... UHH OHH!!
This would make many a man curl up under their desk and shake with chills....
LMFAO

You paid a fair price for a service you did not get raped. The dealer charged you a very fair price for what you wanted, WTF is wrong with people not wanting to pay for someones time, it takes time to change the oil and that is a fair shop rate.

I think you already have the consensus here. :)

The price for the motorcycle oil, and filter... is pretty typical. Actually, the charge for labour is not suprising either. You really didn't get raped...you consented. lol.

It's just, for the amount of effort involved, you really could have saved the labour costs. Oil changes are easy!

Some people don't have ideal places to do such tasks I guess though...(ex. if you live at an apartment or something).

i think you got raped... but you got 'average raped' if that makes you feel any better... the honda dealer wanted 105 bucks 5years ago for my new bike... now i do it at home myself for 4L x 9 bucks, + 5 bucks for a filter ...

you do the math :D

You got hosed...(average hosed as was said, but still hosed). FWIW - I can do a cheaper oil change on my diesel truck which takes 11L of oil after buying a 20L pail of Rotella, a filter, a fuel filter, AND if i didn't have them already - the tools to do the job. even a tire pressue gauge and the $0.50 to start a compresser at the gas station could all fit into your budget.

If you think they did a good job because they lubed your chain(which you should be doing - cleaning and lubing regularly) and checked your tire pressure at no extra cost for a $140 oil change..YIKES.

As someone said, go get a service manual. oil changes take 25 minutes tops. they also take the folowing tools - A socket, a filter wrench and an oil pan to catch the oil in...depending on your bike, you may need a screw driver or an allen key to get the body work off.

My only question is why would anyone use Synthetic oil in the first place? Regular dino oil changed on a regular basis, (every 5000km or so), does a fine job. I have owned several bikes and have never used synthetic oil in any of them. My current bike has 130,000km and is running perfectly. Unless you are putting more than 10,000km between oil changes and are participating in the Dakar Ralley, you should not need to go to the extra expense of using a synthetic oil.
