odd question, what would you do in this case? used service for minutes but billed 1hr

im at a loss of words...
 
someone who is familiar with situations like this please chime in. i guess this would be similar to say...

an ontario rider decides to ride down to deals gap but needed to use US health care.
 
Health care is not federal. It's provincial. You're covered by OHIP.. The exact same thing happened to my cousin. He was covered by work healthcare out of province coverage and he still had to partially pay for the airlift. OHIP will cover parts of the healthcare but maybe not all of it. You can choose not to pay and they may sue you or go to collections to get the money. It's not as though they're trying to make money..they're trying to provide healthcare, cover the responsibility of Whistler to ensure nobody dies and take care of the people there. They may have saved her life..
 
i completely get it. my sister said it she's grateful and would pay it. but i'm just wondering does 10 mins of aviation fuel costs over $2000. i mean the pilots are on standby all the time so they are getting paid either way.

You're quibbling. It's not just the cost of Jet A. There are capital costs, the travel time was more than 10 mins, maintenance etc. When you get a taxi, you're not paying for just the fuel.
 
Flying and helicopter is near 300$ an hour for pilot+fuel+maintenance. So from what you say, they flew around 30 minutes, with the service provided I'd say 600$ would be a good price, maybe 1000$...not 2000$.

very interesting. is $300 per hour for a chopper pilot an canadian standard?
 
Why don't you approach this another way. Call them and say that you appreciate the help and care they provided but wondering if there is a anyone Sr. you can talk to. Basically tell them that you acknowledge the help but wondering if they would be willing to discount the rate. Tell them it's pricey and would put a financial burden on your family.

Someone Sr. maybe able to discount the cost or provide other recommendations. This does work for various corporations.

^ thanks. wish we all seen this sooner. i guess we will call and see. please wish us luck. if we can get a big discount or have it waived all together i will personally give away some free gear to fellow gtam brothers, like gloves and etc.
