Oakville Yamaha / Held Titan Gloves

A friend of mine mentioned a new Yamaha dealership popping up in Oakville on Third Line, just south of Speers Road. He mentioned they are carrying some different motorcycle gear that other shops haven't carried stock on in the GTA so I've gone in a couple times over the past few weeks and the place has impressed me with both service and selection. Being just a few months old, the dealership is absolutely immaculate. All of the gear is nicely laid out (jackets, pants, gloves, suits, touring/rain gear, helmets, bags, etc). They even have stuff that online giants like Sportbiketrackgear do not have, the Held Safer jacket (with stingray shoulders) as well as the matching 2 pc pants).

I ended up picking up a pair of Held Titans because they were listed at $310 (compared SportbikeTrackGear's $349 US with $20 off sale price). Not only was their sticker price cheaper than the online US shops (BIG surprise here, since no one has really been able to touch US prices in the last 8 years I've been riding motorcycles), but both Carm in parts and Mark in sales even offered 10% off that price. So there you have it folks, one of the most protective gloves in the business for an absolute silly price.

The Held Slade 1 pc suit (kangaroo / cowide) also has a cheaper MSRP here than Sportbiketrackgear and Kneedraggers. The Held pants were about $452 or so, but as mentioned, STG doesn't have them so I can't compare to a US price, though I imagine it would be still cheaper here in Oakville, not to mention they have a fitting room to let you try them on. The rest of the Held stuff is quite impressive touring stuff with Goretex, etc.

The Furygan lineup is also nearly equally as impressive as the Held stuff. They have some very nice jackets and 1 pieces to go with the gloves. I ended up picking up some of the Furygan leather care stuff to impregnate my boots, gloves, jacket, and 1 pc. The can of grease is about $8 or so and will last a while.

Held Titans:

<

So far, the Held Titans are quite impressive. I was a bit hesitant about buying them over ordering a pair of Held Air Streams, due to the apparent lack of vents in the knuckles/fingers. Today was about 30 degrees with above 60% humidity and I can say the gloves kept my hands from roasting. The lack of sweating and fact the gloves are made with a good deal of non-stretching Kangaroo hide means they may take a bit longer to break in. The sides of the fingers have larger perforated openings than other gloves I've owned in the past. But really, I have to say the kangaroo palm has given the best feel on the controls I've ever experienced and I'm glad I grabbed the Titans. There is lots of pre-curve in the fingers, so they make take some getting used to at first compared to a glove with straight fingers that makes it a bit easier to grab the brake or clutch levers, but all in all, no complaints here. You can see the fit in the 2nd pic, but the only finger tip that is slightly long is the pinky finger. Again, not a huge deal, as it's only long by about half a centimeter.

The good news is that they come in half sizes and there are still a few black/white and red/white gloves available there in Oakville. I noticed a few pairs had been sold since my last couple visits, so I suppose other people are realizing that these gloves are priced to sell. They could have ordered me in the black on black ones, but I didnt really feel like waiting, and the white is a nice touch to match the bit of white i have on my jacket. I definitely recommend you guys go in there and check them out!

Sportbiketrackgear has a video on all the extensive safety features I can't be bothered to go into here, though I do wanna mention the Stingray is pimpin!:glasses5:

Also available in full gauntlets at a higher cost.

All in all, the guys at the shop are very cool and easy going with no pressure to sell. Carm, Mark and the owner Elio are all down to earth guys who are quite knowledgable. Mark himself was touring the Furygan headquarters in France before decided to import the stuff. He was explaining how the jackets are made in France as opposed to Asia and that the seamstress/sewers undergo 2 years of training before being allowed to touch a jacket. Quite impressive if you ask me. I encourage all of you to go in and check the stuff out!

cool thanks, I ride by this place quite a bit but never seem to pop in. And I ride a yamaha too, lol

Been there once a few day ago to check it out, the guys said they have trained tech for all the major brands; I was asking for an oil change for my Vulcan....
He was very polite and the shop was indeed immaculate. They will bring a lot more bikes soon.

I've posted of them in the past. They're a class act. I've bought a street jacket, Kreiga bags and a set of tires there. All separate sales and all at better prices than I could find anywhere else.
