Not sure if I should pull the trigger on this bike...

So I'm in the market for an sv650 naked and found an '04 with 30,000kms in London. I checked it out, very clean with the exception of a dented tank.

It has:

- new-ish tires

- slip on exhaust
- windscreen
- bar end mirrors
- frame sliders

Buyer is asking $3700, but they would do $3400 if I bought the UVIP.

I got burned on my cbr last year so I wanted to get advice from the good folks at GTAM this time.

The laziness of sellers, I guess, has no limits. He'd rather give you 300 bucks discount, than to get UVIP for 20 bucks and let say 15 mins waiting in line.

No clue whether this is a good price or not. Tons of SV's around though so you have options.

Well the dented tank and no fairings pretty much tell you its been down at least once.
Also if you do buy the UVIP and don't buy the bike make sure you don't just give it to him.

SV's don't have fairings...

How did you get burned on F4i if you don't mind me asking?

If there is nothing else wrong with the bike, minty tank would run you around $200 off ebay (in your color if you patiently wait). I bought mink tank for my blue 06 F4i for 110 last year, it's still sitting in the basement. Bought it together with a fairing to replace my scratched one, couldn't miss a deal :).

I paid about $1000 more than I should have in the winter because the bike needed a lot of maintenance work let's just say. I blame myself for rushing into that one.

Since it is an SV, I suppose a replacement tank would be easier to find.

I really wish I had the time and patience to pick up a bike in the states, better all around deals to be had.

I got my F4i in the States. Paid a couple grand less (in the middle of the summer) than Toronto winter prices lol. It did have a scratched fairing, can you believe it??? Btw, F4i and 636 are the two bikes that you can find any parts online, because they are so popular among stunters. Stunters constantly rebuild or kill their bikes and always have spare parts for sale.

i picked up a 04 sv650S near end of the last summer for 3K. It did need new tires and a clutch lever for safety. Could use new pegs but the current ones will suffice for now. bike runs flawlesly although its seen better days. so i would say, if u dont mind the cosmetic issues a little, these bikes are pretty reliable. test ride it if u can. i did with cash in hand ready to buy.
Wit new-ish tires, its worth it imo. i would offer 3K though... usually nakeds are chaeper than the S version.
