Hey guys, this is not motorcycle related. But I just had a question that maybe some of you here would know.

Yesterday I had my car rust proofed at Krown, it is the first time I had it done. I thought they only did the under body? looks like they smeared Vaseline all over my car even the windows look's like there's residue or oil on it, is this normal? looks a bit over done to me

My car was all freshly cleaned and waxed before I brought it in, and now its all greasy!

oilspray is a mist, so it'll get everywhere. The dude that does mine windexes my windows well before i leave. I dont' believe my car is 'oily' over the exterior ever. I watch the guy doing my car and he's pretty focused to specific areas and takes his time. Why it's thick over your car is odd (vaseline comment).

Yah, I thought it wasnt supposed to get all over my car. Looks like something smeared on my entire car windows n body panels and all. How disappointing, I just washed and waxed and polished my car last week, and now I have to do it again Lol

No they drill holes into the door jams, rear quarter and rocker panels as well as spraying the engine bay, trunk lid and the inner trunk compartment side of the rear quarter panels. It is a **** thing to do as it collects all the salt and rusts the car faster unless you have it done twice a year until you get rid of the car. They do a **** job, oil guard tends to do a better job and be more thorough but it is still not worth the money.

Honestly, just leave it on the car... it's 'sealed' now. Just windex the windows and leave her for the winter. :)

Not normal in my experience. I take my truck to Krown Concord - they wash the exterior after treatment. They have some super foamy spray wash that seems to work well.

Yes, they drill strategic holes to be able to apply the product inside body panels - maybe they assumed you understood this? I do annual treatments as I park outside, less frequently for my wife's car who drives less and parks inside. I've always scheduled the earliest appointment in the day - I figure the techs will be less dirty themselves at the beginning of their shift.

my theory... maybe the overspray got on your windows and they tried to wipe it off with a rag but ended up smearing it.... making it look like vaseline was rubbed all over.

I see more problems from rustproofing then any good that comes out of it.
Cars are pretty well built these days and don't really rust like they used too.
However with some cars having 4 + A/F and O2 sensors covered in oil and swollen bushings that can get pricy :(
I see this almost weekly with engine codes from oil covered sensors.

Aaha I drive a Honda... those things rust out like crazy. But for it being a 2001, It's in decent shape as I try my best to take care of it. But the rust proofing I just thought it was a ****** job since they got it all over my car, like literally ALL over my car Lol.

I can see it being a bad thing too. From Krown driving back to my house, it's about a 3km trip and wen I got back, I took a good look around and I noticed that a bunch of dirt n small rocks being stuck to the "rust proofing oil" or what ever was used. All in my wheel wells and too.

Sounds like something's amiss on your Krown job. I never get that. All I get is oil on the brake rotors. First time that happened I had a minor but controlled hissy fit for two reasons. I went half way thru the first intersection because the brakes were oiled and because I was led to believe contaminated pads need replacement. Not. The brakes work fine.

Lol some of the oil got on my exhuast and I thought my engine bay was blowing up in smoke, but after a few minutes it just all burned off i guess. or umm I hope it was actually the oil and not something else LOL

Krown is a wax based spray so that would explain the look of your windows, sounds like you got the guy who is being trained. Don't wash you car til the spring no matter how messy it looks or you are wasting your money. Cleaning your windows is fine.

LOL oh damn are you serious to not wash my car until spring? My OCD is kicking in lmao

The one in Georgetown where I go hand washes every car before it leaves. No excuse other than sloppy/lazy for your experiance.

you can wash the car soon, you don't have to wait til spring. some places will wash it on the spot.

just don't wash underneath. don't use any of the car washes that spray underneath. give it a couple weeks and wash the body if you want.
