Non stock spark plugs put in from dealer...

****ing Kahuna...everything seemed to be done right but I looked on the invoice and it says CR7E plugs were installed when my bike uses CR8E stock. Is this something to be concerned about? From the info I've gathered the 7E is a hotter plug...

What does your user manual say? Some of them I've seen two plugs listed, one for canada, one for USA?

Bike make and model would help.

Maybe the 8 was showing signs of fouling or running too cold. They should have explained their reasoning.

Maybe they just made a typo on the invoice but really did install CR8s?

Only one way to find out. Pop the tank off and have a look! The ninja 250s are super easy to work on. You don't need to remove the airbox or anything :)

CR8E or some Denso...

Ninja 250 09...I didn't get any explanation but it was written that the plugs were fouled.

You actually don't even have to take the tank off to get to the plugs, just the left fairing. I guess I'll take a look tomorrow. I wish they did a typo on the total...

Probably why they went one hotter range.

So I'm assuming they were running cold, but I wonder if that was due to all my cold weather riding. I hope it doesn't cause an overheating problem now that its getting warmer.

spark plug is used as an indicator of engine health, if its fouled it could be lean/rich. Hotter plug can balance that out and you get better performance. Your invoice shows fouled plug and mechanic goes one # hotter and probably solved your fouling.

Take the guy a Tim's card and say thanks

Instead of calling the shop and asking a few questions, come on a public forum and bash the shop/mechanic, that's a much more reasonable route.

IIRC the 250's are carbed. Maybe too much time on choke would give an indication of too cold a plug also. Run it for a while then pull it and check the condition.

how is it bashing by saying "****ing Kahuna"...and then saying everything seemed to be done right. All I pointed out is something was not done to stock specification. Are you telling me every time someone has a negative review when it is a legit reason, its bashing? I didn't post the mechanics name and make it specific, Kahuna already has threads that are dedicated to its bashing, take the reasonable route and go preach there. You of course see fit to post ******** useless remarks in my thread.

I did call, there's one guy running the service desk and my bike was there for a week and I tried to stay in regular contact for updates. I know firsthand how hard it is to get a hold of them especially during the daytime and right at the start of the season.

I didn't preach and by saying "........kahuna" how is it not bashing their shop? You don't need to say the mechanics name, you said you had work done there so obviously your not bashing the janitor. The correct way to go about your "situation" would have been to ask "why would you put hotter plugs in your bike" not even naming the shop/mechanic and possibly understanding why this was done.

.

Slow down when you type. You can't claim ownership of a thread on a public forum, its like telling people they can't get on the bus at your stop.

Based on your logic, lets use the guy who bought a brand new bike and paid for a full tank of gas yet barely got a quarter.
"Why would the salesman's charge me for a full tank of gas, but not even give me 5 dollars worth until after making a return trip costing me more time/money" Hmm...lets try and understand that friends...

Or my past experience when my bike was there for warranty.
"Why would the mechanic not put back in fairing and frame bolts that he obviously took out, and replace allen heads with JIS and then torque them to ****, making it a pain in the *** for a customer and costing them unnecessary expenses on replacements due to their negligence" I can't understand that one either...

I still like Kahuna, and would buy another bike from there, because my personal experience was great. I would just avoid it for service, the only reason I took it in was for a warranty issue. I've spent thousands of dollars there, I think I have a right to voice my concerns and issues.

ok, Mr. Cranky. How's "the thread highlighting my problem", do I need to capitalize the my? This is a technical sub-forum where people often start threads about their own specific problems, so yes there is a degree of ownership if that's what you want to call it. I'm not asking for opinions on a general matter. It pertains to my specific situation.

Slow down, read to yourself what you type, process it and think about how it sounds.
