No more eBay for me

I think I got a sour one this time.

I was looking for gold mirror visor for my Shoei X-11 and found one that was sold and shipped from Hamilton.

Except it's not being shipped from Hamilton but from somewhere in China.

Seller goes by dawnknight2010.... he seems to sell a lot of bike stuff.

Ebay system is such that they want to resolve issues with sellers first. Of course if you have issues with sellers, not often do they go well. Only satisfied (small sample size possible) end up giving 5-starts, and you get tricked into thinking "this guy's legit" ( I did).

I thought I should share this so others don't have to experience bitter time.

Many years ago I won an item about 1 km from my house. I had emailed the seller to ensure that I could pick the item up in person and save shipping, which he agreed. After I won he reneged and wanted $10 for shipping. Even when I sent him email proof that he agreed, he still charged me for shipping. We went into an ebay dispute and both our reputations took a hit. I vowed to not buy stuff on ebay, though I have done a transaction or two since.

Some sellers are bad, but most are good.

Never ever had a problem. Some items never came to me and I emailed the seller and got a full refund. Happened more then once

What really grinds my gears is when I pay for express international shipping (from say USA) and then I get the item the next day or day after, and it shipped from Toronto :(

Do you have a link to the item or to the seller? http://www.ebay.ca/usr/dawnknight2010

EDIT: Found him: http://www.ebay.ca/usr/dawnknights2010

Found item: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Shoei-X-11-F...Domain_2&hash=item4ae9897dc4&vxp=mtr#shpCntId

In the ad it says "When purchased item is sold out before sold online, we will ship the item directly from the manufacture to you address." so it sounds like he has a retail shop as well, so he was sold out of visors but the manufacturer had stock so he left the listing up and when you purchased it he drop shipped it from the manufacturer.

I recently purchased some valve stem caps and chose the particular seller because they were in Vancouver and I thought I'd get them quickly. It turned out that they were shipped from Taiwan and took nearly a month to arrive. I usually use the nearest first filter and was dissapointed that sellers can say they're in a certain location and ship from somewhere else.

And most of his other items are clearly labeled "Hong Kong, China".

So your mad because the item is being drop shipped? Or that its Chinese aftemarket visor? First world problem's. EBay is very supportive of buyers in the dispute process. There is a resolution process on eBay and PayPal, file a complaint, post eBay or Paypal's response, and let's see where this goes.

I would file a complaint if I could find a contact info. I did not know I made an account with eBay and so tried it as guest - so even though I got all kinds of receipt and transaction # it doesn't show on actual ebay website for resolution center. Without ebay knowing who I am and what I bought, it assumes I didn't buy it and doesn't take me anywhere.

Or, next time take another 10 seconds and ask the seller about the whereabouts and logistics if that bothers you so much.

did you get a knockoff or something?

I still use ebay fairly often and for the most part still like it, but the one recent addition I hate are the 'customs services' that a lot of the US sellers have jumped on to.

If I order stuff from the US using USPS, 98% of the time I will never pay duty or tax... but with this customs services I pay it 100% of the time if I order from a seller that uses this program.

For me that means that I rarely buy goods from the US on ebay anymore. Now I mainly use it for Chinese stuff and only if their prices beat Aliexpress or DX.com.

Edit - and I only had one bad buying experience on ebay. Years back shortly after it came out I won an auction at the last second for GTA IV (PS3)... I think I might have won the auction at $10 or something. A few minutes after the auction ended the seller sent me a note saying he couldn't find the disc... yeah right. Anyway, I wasn't out any money but it sucked losing the deal.

I buy a lot from eBay, no bad experiences yet though. I try to only buy things with free shipping. It seems that most of the stuff from the states, once you factor in the exchange rate and shipping, I can get locally for the same price. I shop local whenever possible but when I can get something online for $4 shipped free to my door, it's tough to beat.

Read the reviews, it is a common practice to say the items are shipped from Canada while in reality they are from Taiwan or China etc.

The reviews will always tell you the truth.

Now I have bought items from these vendors that are in Taiwan instead of Canada and the item was as expected and delivered within the informed time, so I gave them a good overall review but entered in my comments that they lied about the origin.

.

I have had good experiences on eBay & have been shopping there for over 10 yrs. I wish someone had told me of the above mentioned sites before. Last night I bought some survival knives on Aliexpress. Good steel & really good price. Good brand too, Buck & Cold Steel

Yep. This.

I always read the reviews of the store/seller before ordering. My rule of thumb is, if their rating is hovering at 98-99% with alot of transactions, then it's usually good to go. Haven't had one issue yet.

Just an example of a ******** reply i got when I asked detail questions about my item.

Judy my *** lol, her name is probably anything but Judy.

Here was my response, but at the end i did get the item in time and it was pretty good quality

Dear tunerx-factory,

I know what you are saying is not true - You only say you are in Canada so that people don't think your inventory is poor quality.

This is a very poor business practice.

If I don't get my item within 14 days as promised on your email, I will contact my credit card company and have the charges reversed. I will also write to ebay and explain your deceiving business practices..

Now if I receive my item within the time promised and the item is as described then i will leave it at that.
