Ninja 650R Digital Tach & Speedo??

This is about the 2009-2011 650r's

Anyone know if this is going to be a pain in the *** or not?

I can understand a digital speedo, but the tach being digital as well might be a bit different since that changes a lot faster.

Also if anyone knows, how much would it be to change the dash to a 2013 model one, parts & labor?

Friend has a 2009 and has no issues, I would say not worth changing unless you are having problems with yours.

Solid bike, you should have any issues with a good one.

Another comparable bike is the Suzuki SV650S so oyu may want to look at those as well in your area ( I have one for sale wink wink)

Good luck on your search !!

Meh, shift by ear. IMO digital tachs are stupid, but not worth spending money to replace.

The purple one with the full fairing kit? If so I was just looking at it last night ;) but out of my budget :(

Not really an experienced rider but I'm sure i'll adapt to it sooner or later, same thing happened with my car.

The main thing I am worried about is speeding since it might take a while to refresh I've never had a digital speedo/tach so I don't know how fast the response is...might say 40, i'll speed up and then all of a sudden im at 70, so I slow down and I am at 40....lol

Mine is in the link in my signature it is dark blue not purple so I am unsure if we are talking about the same bike. The digital response time is fast, faster than us that is for sure.

Yes thats it! Haha, sorry the 4th picture looked purple and I am a bit colour blind so that doesn't help... :(

Great to hear the digital response is fast, I saw a video of a guy on a r6 getting pulled over and his digital speedo was all over the place 1 second 40, next 70 didn't even go through the rest of the numbers. He wasn't accelerating that fast either.

Yeah you wont have any issues. I see your budget is around 4500 ?

If your serious about buying a bike and want a good one, send me a PM we'll talk...

i got the 2010 ninja 650, i love the digital thats one of the reasons why i chose that model. never had any issues with that or the bike in general.

would you have prefered a digital speedo + anolog tach? or do you really prefer both digital?

They recently switched it in the 2012-13 models so I am assuming people complained.

One of the reasons why tach's are going digital is because an analog signal sometimes isn't fast enough to show true revs.

A digital tach can rev up to any speed in a split second.

But they moved back to the anolog tach and all higher sports models i've seen have the tach as anolog, this is a touring bike that has a full out digital dash, havn't seen many bikes but from the ones i have thats what i have noticed :O
