ninja 650 sports bar bolts?

Hey I am looking to buy the sport bar kit (for a 650r ninja) but the seller said he doesn't have any bolts for the central unit.

I am wondering if I can use the OEM bolts for the handle bars to bolt the handle bars to the bike or if I need the bolts that were sold with the sport bar kit.

If anyone has experience with the 650r sports bar and if you need the bolts let me know.

If we are talking about the same thing. You can re-use the 4 bolts that hold the handle bar clamp in place...

The OEM clamp bolts will be too long, you'll need the same bolt but around 2cm shorter.

from my exprience the "sport" bars for the 650r are actually not that good, the ones I have seen tend to have clearance issues if you choose to change levers. Just a thought, seeing that you already bailed on your bike do you feel it wise to change the bikes handling and the rider position?

^ I''m with Jampy00. The sport bars yeah they look cool, but an inexpensive superbike handlebar http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/14/71/982/15394/ITEM/BikeMaster-Superbike-Handlebar.aspx gives as good of a feel, for under $40.

I had the prototype sportbike bars on my 09, the clamp changed up and the Ninja650Shop needed a guinea pig. I despised the angle of the oem bars, had a set of the superbike bars above, and loved them. I loved the look of the sportbike bars but weren't really an improvement over superbike, and unless the design has changed, the hardware seemed a bit delicate.

Held up in a crash though :D

Im getting them pre owned for a okay price, he said $40 picked up or delivered at $70, not bad for a pair of sports bars.

any chance you can tell me if the central clamp part can be used with oem bolts?

I've just heard it helps on handling, and I learned on a sport bike style motorcycle, it felt a lot smoothing in turns and the front would turn easier, had good reviews. If you don't want yours i'll buy it off ya!

oh can these be bought at any hardware store? Or are these special?

Its got a new central unit that needs to be bolted in to hold the bars in place, the seller told me its fine but I just want to make sure. This part

Contact ninja650shop they can answer your question and also get you the bolts you need.
Fyi: when I had my bars installed they gave me back the OEM Bars and bolts. So I think mikbusa is correct. The OEM bolts are too long. Also if you use the stock levers you shouldn't have any clearance issues. I have the Pazzo levers (shorty) and I have a slight issue at full lock only. Bars are worth it in my opinion.

You're a forgetful little one aren't ya. Don't own nor would I own a 650R. If you feel that a bolt on aftermarket sports styled handle bar will provide you with better handling over the manufacturers setup after 3 weeks of riding, that tells me mass amounts of information in regards to your actual versus perceived abilities. I think you will find a vast amount of support and information supporting your idea's on your current motorcycle on a 650R themed forum.

My experience was in fact the exact opposite, going from a sports styled bike SV650 to a "standard" bike CB1000R I find the handling to be much more neutral and forgiving on the standard vs the sport, that being said I am sure suspension has a hug factor in this as well.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the new bars and for 40 bucks, worth a try.

IF all you need is a set of bolts that are longer - swing by - im sure I have a ton of those bolts that I can give you. Or if your bolt needs to be shaved down - we can do that too. If you want to keep the OEM look
