Ninja 250R won't start even with a car jump

I was helping a frd diagnose his 250. It wasn't starting and the battery read 11.94. I wanted to test to see if the voltage would go up when we revved the bike so we tried jumping it off his car (TURNED OFF). Bike wouldn't start, small spark from the + side on the Ninja 250's battery and the typical "TICKTICKTICK" sound from a low battery trying to start a bike. I disconnected the cables and turned the bike back on to see if the lights were still working (in case I fried anything).

Is this the case of a dead battery? Or is something else going on?

Guess it could be blown fuse or bad starter. Start checking fuses first. Could also be bad terminal connections on the battery. Remove and clean contacts to see if that helps.

Sounds like a bad connection.... at the battery, or the main ground wire to the engine case. My bet is the engine case is painted where the ground connects, and when you are cranking you get a 3-5 V drop across the connection...

I hope you connect +ve with +ve & - with -

lol yes I did.

ANyway, the battery was just so dead that there was no charge. Bought new battery, fired right now, choke completely down voltage stayed at 13.6 so all is good!

My bet is on this. You probably put the battery cables backwards and blow the fuse

Edit: Never mind then!
