When I winterized my bike this summer I noticed the petcock was set to Prime, I set it to the ON position to empty the bowels. I had ridden it all season set to Prime and that is how the guy who I bought it from sold me it as.

After starting the bike with it set to Prime again, I set the petcock back to ON. I just took it out for a ride and after maybe 800m my bike all of a sudden lost power, and then shut off.

I set the petcock to prime again, drove it home and now I'm here.

Does anyone know what kind of issue this may be? And with respect to repairs what am I looking at?

Thanks,

is the vacuum hose connected to the right spigt on the petcock, not the vent but the diaphram port?

I think it is... there are two ports, one larger one I assume for fuel and the other smaller which I assume is the diaphram port you speak of.

I just noticed that the smaller hose is connected to nothing on the other end but there is a fastenner on it..

Looking through the service manual to see where this hose should connect to.

It was very difficult to spot in the dark, thanks for the suggestion Stewart, new rider here much appreciated.
