Anyone else living the vampire life? How do you pass the time when the work dies down and boredom sets in?

lol, if i could do that on the clock i'd never say a bad thing about my job

Read a book or study something. I wasted good 8 years worth playing PC games on my laptop, and I regret that every day. Get a pair of dumbbells and exercise if you are not into studying. Just my 2 cents.

Sleep. If the boss catches you, make sure that before you open your eyes you say "Amen", and claim you were just praying.

I mess around on my ipad a lot, and yeah its quite a colossal waste of time

I find after 2-3am that I have a real hard time concentrating enough to grasp concepts in a textbook... leisure reading is a little easier but even then, I start to nod off or find myself reading the same page over and over because my train of thought jumps the tracks and slams into a warehouse...

the exercise idea is good though.. I already hit the gym 5-6x a week but I could always bring a skipping rope and bang out my cardio here

after 10 years of it, it loses a bit of its lustre.... especially when a lot of sites are restricted nowadays

I'll admit....there are some nights where I run out of things to look up in the internet. I guess I don't have enough imagination.

www.reddit.com .. the index of the internet. You will never get bored.

Since you have an iPad, there's so many good TV shows out there that you can download, not stream.

I have a 500gb that's got every season of over 40 different TV shows!

I work nightshifts about 7 shifts a month.

Part of my job responsibilities I can surf the web or read to pass time.

The other part of my job I cannot.
Can't go on the web, can't take my phone out, can't sleep.
Can't even get up to pee without getting someone to sit in for me.

Just have to stare at the screen and wait for something to happen. :(

There are many restrictions on what I'm allowed to look at on the internet at work. Quite a few sites are blocked by filters (i.e. games, anything 'offensive'), and lately the rumour is IT is keeping an eye on how many of us are streaming videos, Youtube etc.

But back to the OP - I read a book if I can't stand staring at a screen anymore. It can be tough a 3am to concentrate, but such is the life of a shiftworker.....

It depends on your job, but maybe a money bringing hobby you can do in your free time? Get paid double ya know!

When i was an a/c maintenance we had a dedicated crew taking care of American Airline turnaround flights. There would be hours of nothing to do in 12 hour shifts....they all had other jobs...One guy grew fish at his "farm" and made necessary components for the tanks at work. Another guy did data entry or something like that...

when i was doing security job long time ago at night, i started learning 3d software and animation. It was amazing. time flew by like crazy plus i learned alot.
