I'm thinking of getting a pair of riding pants and I'm looking for some advice on brands and fit. I really know nothing about them, but after safety, style means everything to me! ;)

If you're looking for really good advice on general everyday street riding pants, I can't recommend the folks at GP Bikes enough. Head in on a Saturday, ask for Will...guy REALLY knows his stuff. Helped my girlfriend out immensely with her selection.

Also, their prices are the same or better than most of the online places. Go increasing dollar!

If you're looking for track stuff, I'll defer to someone else as it is by no means my area of expertise.

I've had good luck at GP bikes as well. I love that you can head two blocks down and check Royal Distributing too.

Welcome to the forum!

GP Bikes all the way.... they have the hugest selection of riding gear I have ever seen and they are great to deal with! and just down the road is Royal Distributing with another large selection of gear.

Of course, once I saw a gal at Haugen's wearing skin tight pink leather chaps with a pink leather thong. Stylish, yes.....but I dont think that would offer optimal protection.

Lol! I'd call that tacky! ;)

I'm wondering if there is a particular brand that anyone recommends? I love GP Bikes btw! I bought all of my Dainese gear there. They are very helpful and know their stuff, but I always like to shop with at least some knowledge of what I'm looking for.

I'm a newbie! I have a lot to learn and this site is making the journey a lot easier. Thanks everyone! :)

IDK what size you are, but I'm selling a pair of A* Stella Track Pants. If you have an A* jacket, they'll zip right together to make a 2-piece.

A newbie with Dainese gear? Wow!
As far as brands go, I would say that you should just buy what fits properly from an established good brand (Icon, Tour Master and Joe Rocket come to mind for mid-priced gear.) The other option is to buy underwear type armour pants and tops and wear your favourite jeans etc. over them. That way, you get probably better protection and you get to display your inimitable style. Here is an example of what I am talking about... http://www.bohn-armor-pants.com/cat...m&utm_medium=Magazine&utm_campaign=CycleWorld there are probably other examples out there.

In any case, if GP Bikes hasn't steered you wrong yet, probably a good place to turn to for this purchase as well.

Here's an interesting video for you... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_8ZV7gSjto
