Hey guys and gals. Just introducing myself to the Forum. Currently building a 1979 Yamaha XS650. This is my first road bike, I had a couple enduro's in my teens. This build is currently stripped to the frame. We've stretched the swingarm 4" and dropped it 2" front and back. Right now I'm looking for a mono shock off the back of a sport bike.

On to the pics.

Basically what we started with, but lowered the 2" just to get an idea where she would sit.

As she sits as of last night.

Still a work in progress. Need a tank, seat and hand controls just to name a few things. Only really get one or two nights a week to work on it but I hope to have her ready for the show in March.

I'll be sure to keep you updated on our progress.

Oh and here is a pic of my buddy's bike. A 1984 KX550 named the Penny Pincher. He took it out to the March show for the first time last year and took 3rd in Asian Extreme.

Welcome - excellent project. The '79 650 Special was my first bike.

Not sure why but the pic's don't fit the screen. Or maybe they do but I can't see it on my new iPad.

I had a photographer stop by my bike on Friday and he took a few pic's. He was just a freelance guy who was basiccaly a hobbist with really expensive camers. LOL He was just walking past and took a liking to my bike. We must have talked for close to 45 minutes. Here are only a couple pieces of his shots of my bike.
