newb exhaust question.

Not sure what else to google for, but I wondered what the effect of an aftermarket exhaust is on a bike?

Does the "back pressure" increase fuel consumption to the point where it would actually increase the cc's of the engine, and if so by how much? (say, for a set of Arrow pipes) Is there a basic percentage range you can expect?

Or is it torque, and if so, how many lbs. of torque should you expect the pipes to give you, percentage wise? (Arrow site doesn't seem to give a rating)

Any insight on how to infer the effect of an aftermarket exhaust would be helpful.

A slip on exhaust will see little to no performance boost. Maybe 1-2 HP. The main reason people get a slip-on is for the looks and deeper/louder sound it produces.

Srsly? So don't put them on an 1200...

It might sound like 1000cc, but mine came with them and I'm wondering whether I'm getting more power than stock or not. I don't care much about top speed, or even 0-100, it's 90-130 and back that matters. That and brakes. Brakes matter.

Arrow exhausts make your bike into a 1000cc.

Lol!
But seriously, aftermarket exhaust are usually a bit lighter then stock cans. So if you feel that small increase I personally think it the weight you took off. If your street riding I wouldn't bother unless you want a different sound or you plain hate the way it looks. I will say as of late I hate the way these stock cans look.

hahaha Slip-ons are for looks and sound only.
You won't get any increase in power unless you use a PC and maybe dynotune your bike in which is very expensive way to get 1-2HP.

Just sticking a slip-on onto your bike will be hit or miss for if your HP will go up or down but in either direction it will be minimal and never noticed during street riding
