Happy New Year! Hope you get your new ride and fine tune it to fit you perfectly.
Wishing you good health!

The term “Gixxer” is the nickname for Suzuki’s sport-bike series named as GSX-R (followed by a number indicating the displacement) and are manufactured since 1984. Just like Honda (CBR series), Yamaha (YZF series) and Kawasaki (ZX series), Suzuki’s sport-bike lineup are called as GSX-R series.

  • As GSX-R is quite a mouthful to speak out loud, a simpler way to call them as “Gixxer” became popular over the years. This acronym supposedly stands for Grand Sport eXperimental- Racing.
The Suzuki GSX650F is a sport touring motorcycle with a 656 cc liquid-cooled engine, 85 bhp, and a 12,500 rpm redline. It has a 6-speed transmission with a chain drive. The GSX650F is an updated version of the Bandit and replaced the Katana.
The Bandit is sort of what I had in mind. Guy I rode with on a trip to PA had one and I was impressed with how fast.
He had it geared down and it had zilch range. He also almost killed his buddy sho was trying to keep up. Not the first time with that lead rider.

I have a 2010 Suzuki GSX650FA with 132,000 km.
Bit of a slug, little heavy, 540lbs (245kg), but I find it very comfortable on the highway.
No major issues, just normal maintenance.DSC05492.JPG

I noticed the weight and I'd guess on the top heavy side as most on the inline 4s are. Low seat tho. Guess I'm still pining for a VFR800 alternative...with some thrill in the throttle.

Happy new year to you and all the Ausies.
