with "Wish you were here" Rossi is referring to his friend simoncelli who died in the malaysia motogp race 2011), simoncelli was not only his close friend but an italian to and Misano is both their home race...

I don't know... I have the Rossi 5 Continents helmet and it is amazing. I get complimented on it almost every day by people that don't ride, usually old ladies in the elevator. There are some crazier ones, but mostly all of them have some type of symbolism. If you go through the list though, most are not that crazy... The Boxer, the donkey, the soccer one, all the test ones are just black, the one of his face... I don't know, I guess I have a hockey background and with goaltenders masks to compare with, having a crazy motorcycle helmet doesn't seem that wild to me. and I am not a goalie.

Helmet designs used to be about quickly identifying the rider with unique colors and geometric shapes, and the pattern NEVER changed the entire career.
These days, helmets get changed every race, and many are auctioned off for charity.
HDTV means they put more and more detail, and the riders are distinctive from their leathers and number patterns. Way back, all leathers were just black, and all numbers were the same style.
I prefer simple, distinctive helmet designs.
