Not that much heavier but with double the HP
Should be a hoot.

Looks good and I'm open to the idea of downsizing and will probably do so in the near future.

Unfortunately, Honda again chooses to go a bit cheap with suspension, but I'm sure it's perfectly functional for the majority of purchasers.
"The front suspension is based off Showa 43mm SFF-CATM (Separate Function Fork-Cartridge) USD fork, with 200 mm travel and spring preload adjustment. In back, there’s a remote reservoir Showa shock with 190 mm travel and preload adjustability. Honda says the swingarm is based off the same casting as the Africa Twin."

Suzuki has also released their new parallel twin so it's becoming a competitive segment.

I think the Husqvarna would still be my preference but it's nice to have choices.

and neither the suzuki or honda, have cruise control

If you can swing it, euro is still the way to go.

Bingo, I can’t wait for comparisons reviews of Norden against Transalp. Was watching a lot of YT vids about how good Norden is for type of riding I would be willing and able to do.

Also interesting when Transalp will make it to Canada and the price here..

The problem with most of the bikes in the segment is that they all have similar specs and are competing for the same target audience - namely those who rarely ride dirt but want to project an image of someone who does. Like the guy that buys a Rubicon as a mall crawler.

I'm more impressed by Yamaha who engineered a bike that has minimal electronic gadgetry. No cruise, no hand warmers. 50 lbs lighter than all other bikes in this segment. It basically calls out all the posers in the crowd: "You said you wanted an Adventure bike. This is an Adventure bike. Are you gonna put your money where your mouth is?"

And it worked. Those things sold like hotcakes because there *IS* a market outside of the Starbucks ADV crowd.

I see a guy who rides a T7, and I automatically know that guy is serious about taking his bike off the pavement.

saw a dude at the forks, his black and yellow T7 was cleaner than mine (and mine is CLEAN)
fully equipped with new panniers, crash bars, with yellow refrigerant pipe insulation on them, 4 sets of lights, it even had 2 extra spare gas tanks bolted on behind the panniers somehow.

Dont think that guys was doing a lot of offroad.

How do you know that?

You are allowed to clean a motorcycle whether it's a cruiser or an ADV bike. All my bikes are maintained fastidiously. I even clean my enduro with a toothbrush, and it's been everywhere.

Do some people buy a T7 for road use only? I'm sure they do. But coming at it from the opposite standpoint, the bikes that I see on the trails that are a step up gnarlier than an FSR are a whole lot of 690s/701s, DR650, DRZ400, CRF250/300s and the heaviest ones are 790s and some KLRs. And more increasingly T7s. I rarely see 1250/1290/ATs on those roads. 450 lbs is about the cut-off for most riders for fun factor. Unless you're Chris Birch...

Here's us in Death Valley. A sea of plastic bikes. And two T7s:

Obviously, they were designated the supply mules...

Like these mid-size Adventure bikes and Honda should borrow a page from Triumph and have an option of a more road focused model with 17/ 19 wheels instead of the 18/21 for quicker steering and lower for shorties like me.

Still think the Transalp will have limited ground clearance with their strange oil sump/ pan design. The F800 series addressed this with a semi dry sump.

I'm on several DesertX forums and some guys took their new DXs out in the dunes just like all the Ducati marketing videos shot in Saudi Arabia. "Oh it's a 21/18, it *should* do amazing!"

They had a miserable time because those 500 lb "middle-weight" behemoths were always sinking into the sand.

They didn't take into account that their names weren't Antoine Meo...
