Hello everyone,

Want to take a minute to introduce myself and ask a question. My name is Stan. I moved to Toronto from Moscow in 2001. I went to RTI to get my M2 in 2010. A year before I got infected with motorcycle bug, thanks to my brother who has been riding in Moscow for 6 years now.
My family and I just moved to Newmarket. My daughter likes her new school, everyone is enjoying our first house and I am happy with this decision. Which brings me to my question for anyone who ever found himself/herself in this situation.
I have been postponing a purchase of my first bike for two seasons in a row not including 2012. And it seems that this season is about to fly out of the window for me as well. I am old enough to know what's right for my family and I am ok with that. However yesterday, when I saw at least 30 motorcycles out on the streets of Newmarket and Aurora I was ready to put on what gear I already had and strap a lawnmower to my bicycle just to get out riding in the sunshine.
I guess, I am not really seeking advice as much as I am interested if people out there had similar experiences.
What did you do when you had no cash or financing, but were desperate to start riding :) ?
(I know it sounds ridiculous, but the least I can do is ask).

Hey Stan are you planning on buying new or used. I just started riding last year. As like yourself I also went to RTI for my M2. I bought a 1984 Yamaha XS 400 as my first bike wanted something nice but not to expensive and Insurance as a new rider for the year was 1200 bucks and I'm in my 30's. Maybe that is the route to go as of January I own 4 bikes. My first three were each under 2000 so if that is alittle bit more affordable that would be the route to go. And the Bug is bad I have been riding all winter.

I would if I could just go and buy 2007 125cc Honda CBR. They go for around $1800. Its not a lot of money but every bit right now goes towards the house. Hopefully I will manage to save a little (tax return?) :). Thanks for your reply.

New idea :) !!! I will rent someone's first bike for a season. Blackeagle you said you have 4 bikes. Are you using all of them? Can I rent one of yours? PM me.

Thanks,

Stan

The most important factor is that you should do what makes you feel happy. Life is way to short to give up on dreams and desires. If you can scrap a few pennies together, get a cheap bike to satisfy your current urge and continue to save as well as making sure that your family is happy in their new home and country.
