Hello,
I am new to GTAM and riding. I am 21 years old living in Halton. I have a m1 license awaiting my motorcycle course in May with Conestoga or Sheridan ( i have not yet chosen). This is my first bike so i want something with reliability, warranty, and something i wont grow out of. So I am looking to Finance with money down on a 2013 Honda cbr500ra/cb500f, or 2013 kawa ninja 300. Id like any feed back on my choice of bikes and/or best insurer on those bikes(but i will be searching today for quotes). I am contacting the dealer to day to see what kind of coverage i need bc i am financing. I am using Royal distributors as my source for gear, if u have used others please let me know.
thank you,
Brogie out:D:D:cool:

Welcome!

check this thread out its all about insurance: http://www.gtamotorcycle.com/vbforu...-Insurance-Company-will-give-me-the-best-rate

Also for gear there are lots of places to get stuff depending on your location and how far you want to travel. You can always find great deals online, the only problem is you take a chance that it won't fit properly. You can't try it on to see how it fits and you would have to know your size. Best thing to do is if you see a really good deal online, go to a store and figure out how the product fits you, this way you will know which one to buy online.

Just realized you are 21 years old. Stock up on lube and call insurance before purchasing any bike. Best advice I can give you.

Good luck

Welcome

If you have to finance a bike I don't think you'd be able to afford insurance at your age.

Welcome!

Best thing is to surf this site for reviews on stores..also online stores often have better prices..

Welcome!

I would recommend getting a used bike. Since it is your first and you are just starting out, there is a high chance you will drop it one day and with a new bike, that is going to damage the value of your bike a lot. Also, there is a high chance that you will grow out of the Ninja 300 and MAYBE the CBR500R. So getting a decent used bike is your best bet.

If you finance, you will have to get Full Coverage anywhere you go. Personally, I only have liability and comprehensive coverage from State Farm and no collision coverage (which covers your bike when you wreck the bike on your own with no other motorists involved). Just getting collision adds $60 to my monthly payment (yeah I am 23 so insurance is a killer).

As for insurance, State Farm is the best option for someone under 25. Other insurance providers will quote you at close to $4000/year even for a Ninja 250. Riders Plus is decent after 1 year has passed since you've completed the course but before that they are very high as well. At SF you are looking at around $2300/year for the Ninja 300 and $3600/year for the CBR500R.

i would buy a used bike, only from a reputable dealer. Kawa 300ninja 13 i found $1638 full coverage, 12 payments as the cheapest.I have been calling all morning. The CBR500R looks and sounds great but it may be too expensive on insurance.
thanks for your help

Don't be afraid to buy from private owners the 2 bikes I've had so far were bought used from the previous owners and they are still great bikes. You just have to make sure you inspect it properly. But if you've got the money and sure you won't be upgrading soon, then I can't see anything wrong with buying the new Ninja.

Good luck finding your ride!

WELCOME.... I bought my 500 ninja off kijiji ( which is AWESOME) lol take someone who is experienced with bikes to help you look and test ride if you want to buy private :)
There are great deals out there.. As flux said you will most likely drop it at least once. Might be a soft small drop but it will still be a drop.. lol

Best of luck and Enjoy :)

I got my gear from all over:

- AGV k4 Fiberglass lid from Kahuna (great deal)
- Alpinestar GP-R Perforated Leather Jacket + Armour + Dainese Scarpa Dyno boots + Alpinestar SPX Gloves (Riders choice in Mississauga)
- Bunch of accessories + smaller gear - cowls, fender eliminators, battery tender, stands, levers etc. (online, amazon, ebay etc.)

I also checked out RD but it was in the winter and they were more focused on winter gear - I've also heard from experienced riders that they prefer GP bikes (right beside RD).

For me - I really liked Riders Choice and special ordered all of my gear from Matt. I ****** the **** out of him calling him everyday and asking when my leathers were in and he handled it like a champ. Will be going back to RC for a 1 piece soon.
