New rider on a CBR125

Here's my interesting (or not) story on my riding career up until now...

Took the M1 written test on July 9... failed the G1 portion of the test... didn't even realized they test G1 knowledge until it's too late :(... retook the G1 portion on July 11 and passed!

Bought a helmet online Sunday before the weekend I was scheduled for my safety course... was nervous as hell that it wouldn't come on time... well it did, came on Friday afternoon!

Took the safety course that weekend, August 19-21... felled on my very first time on the bike (the engine wasn't even running) and broke the clutch handle ... and the fact that I didn't even know how to drive a manual car, I was having difficulty with the clutch and throttle... big time. In come the M1 Exit road test... nervous as hell... first test was timed... and I stalled!!! (Slow sharp turn to the right... I was so slow that the bike stalled) Needless to say I failed before I even started the test. Came back the next weekend for the retest... passed!!! Boy I hate driving tests... Officially got my M2 on September 17.

Bought my 2011 CBR125 used on September 27, was going to get Ninja 250 but decided I want a CBR250, but very few used CBR250 out there and the ones out there cost almost the same as new... so decided on a 2011 CBR125 for now and wait for 2012 CBR250 next spring.

Now I can't stop riding! Rode the whole Thanksgiving weekend, bumped into a few sport bike group... they are morons and riding very aggressive... tried to stay away as far as possible... one almost hit me from behind as I was changing lane and he/she was right up against me... good thing I signaled and checked my mirrors.

I came a loooong way in just a couple of months, wasn't even considering a motorcycle back in June... now I can't wait to do more riding before season ends.

That is very cheap. How old are you?

Welcome to the site! I did my riding course on a CBR125 and still maintain it is the most fun you can have with your pants on.

If you wanna go riding sometime shoot me a pm.

Ride safe

Welcome! I'm brand new also with a 2008 125! Soon as it gets back from the shop I'm hoping to enjoy some more riding before the season ends! PM me if you wanna ride sometime.

Welcome, great story.

Addicted too. (Got my M in 1982 - LOL). Back in those days they practically handed you the (Full M) by just showing up on a bike.

Welcome!! Great intro. I just got back into biking after 25 years away. My van has barely moved since - totally addicted as well.

I skimmed the above posts and noticed mention of group riding. I just read the PACE article on this site about group riding. Presses ALL the buttons. You should read it.

hahaha The 125 is definitely a fun bike.

Feb30th, I have a cbr250r and would love to go riding if you're up to it. Tricky and I could get you used to your bike in a hurry. :)

I'm already thinking about upgrading. :D

LMAO we could go out on another downpour-style adventure. But seriously, we should get a group ride going

I test rode the CBR125 twice and found it a lot of fun. However you need to keep the revs up to keep up with traffic. OK up to 80 km. I found that I was blown around on a windy day at 80 km, therefore I went with the GS500F. Put 5800 km this year, soon will need to be serviced.

Hey guys! I'd love to join in if there's a group ride goin on! I've seen a few 125s in my neighborhood (mimico) but haven't ridden with any 125s yet!
Bike SHOULD be fixed tomorrow so hopefully I'm back on this weekend!

For sure. That would be awesome. :) I finally got some proper rain gear. ;) After my Cambridge to Toronto shenanigans, I figured I should invest.

That's why I'm already thinking bigger. My 250 gets thrown around a bit in the wind. I'm thinking a 600 or something for the faster acceleration and weight.

Yup let me know, we should ride! I was gonna get a used pre-2009 CBR125 when I realized the 2011 has a digital gage! Plus there was one used on Kijiji and got a pretty good price so I decided to buy it so I can ride before season ends.
