Hello all,
Am a new rider from Don Mills and Sheppard and am quite excited to join this forum. I ride a small cruiser GZ250 Suzuki Marauder. Looking forward to going on group rides and I would like to know other riders who have a marauder or a rebel.
Cheers

Welcome. Fun little bike, that's what i rode when i got my m2 at the msf course.

Welcome! I like your bike. In fact, I thought for sure a 250 Marauder was going to be my first bike. When I took the course, one of the students rode his on the second day and let me sit on it.

welcome to the forum! post some pictures of your bike!

Welcome!!

Thanks everyone. Now is this bike capable of doing the 400 series highways? Not that am going to anytime soon, but just wanted to know:)

@ the rider at Yonge & Sheppard - Let me know if you want to ride anytime...we are just a few blocks away from each other...

Cheers

I know! Sure let's ride together sometime.

I dont think any 250cc woul have problems going on to highways. You can look it up online to see the top speed of your bike. Mine is a ninja 250 and it can go to 160-180km/h. Yours should be similar and it's way enough for highways. 125cc might have problems keeping up with highway speed.

Congrats tugga! I'm new too on a Ninja 250. There were a bunch of Marauders where I did the course, nice bike

You look pretty light, I'm sure you could push it closer to 200km/h if you tuck in :p

your bikes top speed is 110km/hr. some new riders obviously dont know difference between chopper styl cruisers and aerodynamic sport bikes . 250cc cruiser cant go fast and u cant duck on it . 250cc sportbikes can go much faster and plus ducking is easy. so there are differences between those bikes .

to ur question , most probably u cant go on 400 highways if u are not planning to pass cars and go faster than 110km/hr. and forget about keeping up with sport bikes even its 250cc same engine size as yours . i rode with my cruiser friends (250cc) on highways and max they did was 110km , i had to go slow for them . i ride kawi250cc and i did 170km/hr on it afew times , usually i do 140km/hr on highways.

id recommend u going out with other cruisers or 125cc cbrs riders , u can ride with anybody who is willing to ride with u on ur speeds tho .

cheers!!!!

Thanks motorsiklet. That is very helpful. As you mentioned, keeping up with a 250 cc sport bike on highways will definitely be a challenge then. That said, the top speed as per the speedometer is 140 but I guess that's working the engine a little too much?

I wouldn't worry about keeping up on a group ride. Who wants to ride a bike on the highway if not for commuting, top speed or a faster trip. The back roads/twisties are much nicer even with a lower speed limit.

there is a new rider (cruiser 250cc) on this forum , his name is 5:12 . im sure he would like to ride with u . yeah on group rides u dont need to take highway often , but sometimes to get out of the city or cut short to nicer roads , its good to take highways . especially for longer trips to up north , when u are coming back u wanna take the highway for a quick return .

my speedometer shows top speed 220, there is no way i can go that fast on this bike unless its downhill for 10 kms long. as i said ur top speed would be 110km. might be 120km depending on the wind and downhill situations. ur bike is made for cruising and easypace riding , not for speed and fast pace riding . u can join easy pace group rides.

Welcome Tugga! Nice bike. I tried it on the RTI course. I would thoroughly recommend you get about 1000km of riding experience before going on a group ride. Each day I am out I feel more confident. Learning what you can do with your bike will help you ride in a group.

hey that's me. haha. old thread i know. how's the marauder doing?! i've been on the 400 series highway a few times. did a 4 hr highway trip a couple of times. some scary moments here and there but the bike did quite well. you'll get used to the vibration at higher speeds but they seem to disappear afterwards (prolly gone numb), atleast on my bike. my bike (xv250) seems to vibrate the most between 110-115 range then the vibration decreases past that. nothing crazy anything below 100, normal vibration.

note that highway speed limit is 100 so technically our little 250 cruisers should be fine. they are more than capable of doing 100, but then again, there are people (riders and drivers) who go well over 100++. plus your comfort level etc etc.

passing cars is sometimes a challenge but doable, but definitely no speed bursts. once you hit 100 on these little cruisers you'd have to 'gradually' increase your speed if you choose to do so. gradually coz that's all it would do, speed up gradually even if you crank your throttle to full. maybe a little bit faster than gradual increase at times ;)

wind is another factor and passing cars. i still try to avoid highways whenever necessary.

just my thoughts.

I just sold my Virago XV250 to a beginner rider on the east end.
I found it would do the speed on the highway but there wasn't anything left in reserve if you needed to get out of the way.

Isn't the speed of traffic on 400 series in and around the GTA something more like 40 to 60km/h most of the time anyway?
